HOW TO DO A NATURAL REVERSE FRENCH ACRYLIC OVERLAY

Hey guys
in this video, I'm going to show you how to do a natural looking french nail, over the top of your natural nail. My model Annette has a beautiful natural nail, we are going to overlay it with acrylic.
I've pre-prepped the nail so don't forget to do this yourself. I'm gonna start with the half moon, take a small bead of acrylic, you can choose any colour you like, now pop it onto the nail and shape it using a similar technique as if you were making a 3D flower. Now we are going to start on the body of the nail, take another bead of whatever colour acrylic you have chosen and place it onto the nail, you are going to create the smile line in this part by patting and pushing the acrylic. You also want to bring it over the half moon so when you file it down it all blend together nicely.
For this part, im going to use Mega white and take another medium-sized bead and scrape it onto the end of the nail and spread it across each side, just manipulate it to look exactly how you need it to, if you are copying me exactly the video shows just how I do this. It doesn't matter if you go over the smile line and make a mess because it'll all come together when we do the filing.
Now I've filed it and brought out the natural nail look I'll use Urban graffiti topcoat to finish it up.

I’m a 65 yr old stylist still working but in the process of relearning nail tech skills and you my dear have given me so much help with your easy to understand tutorial style. I have to admit I mostly enjoy doing the flashy decorated meat hook nails the best. Fortunately I have two teenage granddaughters that will let their Grammy go full bling on them. Thanks a million!

That is one GORGEOUS and natural looking French acrylic overlay. Please wish me luck today. I am about to do my first acrylic overlay in 35 years. I bought the acrylic about six weeks ago because I had a nail that was broken about three millimeters into the nail bed from my free edge. I'd done everything I could to save it-- nail wraps, gel polish, nail glue and anything else I could think of doing. By the time the supplies arrived it had grown out almost to the free edge and the side had broken off. So, I just gave up and filed it into a ballerina shape instead of my usual square with rounded corners. Well, today it's broken again in the same spot. It's grown out a couple of millimeters past the free edge now, but I don't want to lose what's left of the length. >sigh< Here goes nothing!

Alice Ribeiro, well... I broke it more. All the way to the center of the nail. And that was before I'd even started the nail prep so I just filed it off and gave up. I have tips, but they don't work with my nail bed shape. Either I have a gap where the base of the form is, above my nail plate, or the free edge has a gap way under the tip. The next time I am near a beauty supply store I will give in and buy some nail forms and see how that works out. Since it's been SO long it would probably be a really great idea for me to buy an e-file, too. Otherwise, I could spend half a day sculpting my nails and another half a day filing, and filing my nails for half a day *really* isn't my idea of a good time!

Kirsty, thank you for showing a shorter length. Out here in rural Maine, most of ladies prefer short due to how much punishment we put our hands through. Also, a lot of us just want nice and tidy looking nails, with the occasional flourish. I personally like to be reminded that I am a female, dang it!
