My mother was from the 50s. They wore French tip manicures done by manicuring natural nails and colored it with white pencils underneath the tip. When acrylics became the rage in the 80s it was very expensive to get a French tip on them but we baby boomer babies loved them!

I love how they look. I wish I could find a manicurist in my area that will do things like pinch the nail and a proper ombre.

You won't find them in shopping malls maybe in a spa or work from home or has her own place by appointment only. They're out there. Goodluck

Ask that future nail tech if she watches KZread videos and if so who? That way you’ll know if they are creative in their mind set.

This is how I like my nails. Just makes me feel simple and pretty.

For the life of me don’t get it when people give you thumbs down. You’re an artist and so nice to watch you as well learn from. My daughter just came to London England to work and she will look you up for nails. We love nails. She will get some products for me from UK and especially yours. We love you both from Canada 🇨🇦❤️

You put so much effort into even the smallest details!! I stopped having my nails done because the techs wherever I went would do stuff like not glue the corners down and just acrylic over it and it would get caught on everything and just UGH Lovely to see that you really take care of your clients' nails!

Omg it’s so weird that you’ve done this video today! I did my first set of nails yesterday and tried ombré, I wasn’t happy with them because I thought they looked too wide. You have just explained exactly what my problem was- I hadn’t pinched! I definitely need to buy the pinching tool now, and rewatch your video on pinching, as I’m a bit unsure how long to pinch for and how to recognise when it’s the right consistency for pinching. Love seeing the shorter nails done. I naturally have short nail beds and I’m a nibbler so when I remove my long nails for a new set, I always start off with a shorter length.

I love the fact that you explained everything so well like why you’re doing each step. Especially the part about why you buff over the acrylic, why you rub a little bit of acetone over it. People never explain why they are doing things. I also love your hair it’s adorable!!!!

I am loving your videos. I’ve only started having gel polish with structure gel on my nails this summer. I just couldn’t grow them without them breaking before . The French manicure style for acrylic nails was super popular in the late 80’s and 90’s. Pretty much everyone who came into the salon I at worked at then wanted this done. Most of those women were from the baby boomer generation. It was the most requested style for acrylics and natural nails and the ONLY manicure ever requested for wedding’s. It was so boring after awhile. I really like this ombré rendition though. Very pretty.

Love when you do shorter nails or my salon length nails ha. None of my clients go major long. Maybe 2 if them x

I got my first set of nails 31 years ago. That was the shape then and I still get that.

I love this shape so much and the simplicity of the look. I have gotten my nails done once but I didn’t love it. I wish I could go visit you to have my nails done, you are so careful and talented, I feel I can trust your expertise. I can handle long nails but I become clumsier than I already am, typing at work becomes a loud affair, and I can’t work my phone, I just can’t 🤣 So I file my nails often when the length has reached certain length, it hurts my soul because it takes forever for my nails to grown but it has to be done 😢 I’m a grandmother in the body of a 29yo, I need grandmother nails. I think they are gorgeous tho’

Ok I just searched it up and the calmer lady in the Naio videos from 2012 was actually the co-founder of Naio, Gemma Lampbert. The lady in this vid is the other founder, Kirsty Lund. So mystery solved, there were two nail technicians!

I think they look great. Some work places will not allow people to have long nails and no tips. Something to do with the food industry health codes. For myself, I am a tall broad with really long fingers. When I wear anything much longer than this length, I look like ET searching for a phone 😂

I'm an 80s girl (early gen x) and there were a lot of traditional nail colours around then (reds, pinks etc) but I was all about the weirdest and most wonderful colours I could find. My prize nail polish was a cobalt blue colour. In the 90s more diverse colours were coming out, and I got my first holographic glitter polish in the mid 90s. I also had a tiny crystal hanging off my left pinkie nail. My mum was a baby boomer and her favourite look was pale pink almond nails. She thought red polish was for wild girls.

So pretty!

It's funny I grew up in the south in America and this style to this day is the one most everyone wears.
