    Also, tip for fellow lefties.....if you want to see the jump in "our" direction, watch this video with a mirror angled so that you can see the reflection in that. When I was a beginner with learning jumps and spins, this was SUPER helpful!

    I love flips when they're on, but they can be inconsistent at times. The little tips you gave like not making it too curved and keeping proper air position are probably why, so I'll be sure to keep that all in mind!

    Thanks so much for posting this video, Coach Julia! I'm glad you added that part about this being based on a "loop" take-off. My coach has been trying to get me to think of this as a "loop" and rotating that first quarter turn on the toepick like the very last moment of the loop take-off, but my body wants to take off as soon as my free-leg pick hits the ice, and before my legs can scissor together. Training to have patience on this take-off makes this very hard!

    Great video!! Thank you. Love the break down of the pivot motion and the tap back. Also, I never lookes at the take off as a loop, maybe that's why my free foot is not over but towards the side.

    Hey Coach, just got off the ice , held your "air position" felt great around the circle. Then I did, as you coined it, a "Flutz" and hit the ice. Got a few laughs... But your tip, flip takes off by back IE, Lutz by back OE. Very cool. thanks Coach Julia!

    Hi coach Julia, I have a lot of difficulty with my spins. Could you please make a video with some exercises to help centrer spins (so they don't travel) and others which help not spin on your toepick? I have a bad tendency to lean forward in my spins.

    Hi Coach Julia, as a beginner I am so thankful for your videos, I have been practicing your beginner lessons for a couple of weeks but unfortunately I have been experiencing some trouble, I'm not sure if that's because of the pair of rentals I use, so I would like to ask if in your opinion I should buy my own pair of skates or I should wait until I gain more practice with the rentals, thank you so much again.

  • @mackenzielasage-paul8056

    @mackenzielasage-paul8056

    The earlier you get your own pair the better. Rentals are super inconsistent, so buying your own skates that are always the same is the best idea.

  • @zeborahnz

    @zeborahnz

    2 жыл бұрын

    When I got my own skates the balance was different from the rentals I'd been using and I was tripping all over my toe pick - it felt like learning to skate all over again getting used to them! So if you know you want to do more than occasional skating then it makes sense to just get your own from the start so you only have to learn everything once. :-) It'll still take a while to break them in though so be patient with yourself.

    Should we be doing all jumps by following a blue line? or at least be able to from the beginning up to the landing? Jumps like salchow, toe loop, and loop.

  • @CoachJulia

    @CoachJulia

    Жыл бұрын

    The only two that work on a line are the Flip and the Toe Loop. The Axel can be made to work on a line as well, but really is a circular jump. Salchow, and Loop should be done on a large circle. The lutz goes the other direction in a hook shape.
