So straightening your leg while pulling with the mass of your other leg is the key?

Thank you Julia for posting ISI FS2 dance steps! I'm working on this sequence and it's quite fun. The most challenging part for me right now is the 10th step because my body is leaning forward after the crossover-like step, and it seems to limit my right hip to open enough to do the 10th step. I can do it from backward inside edge so it's probably just because of the body position after the back crossover like step haha. Looking forward to more ISI tutorials!

I'm beginner wearing hokey skates now. Thanks for showing me the different feelings bw hokey and figure skates. Some one also told me hokey is harder? Maybe I should try figure skate for 3-turn? The reason I uses hokey was because I felt I was blocked by the teeth and slow while skating forward :)

Oh, I wish this vid was around 🤔10 yrs ago when I was testing this for ISI! I will Go try it again after seeing you break it down into components and hope I remember it! Thks I seem to recall a program my coach and I choreographed with music and this sequence was in it along with the other elements of freestyle 2.

For my entire life I have got *too many* exams and tests in my own career (not ice skating). I'm pretty fed up with "tests". That keeps me from even membership of any bodies, let alone ISI through any rinks. Tests just put me off. 😅

How much can you rotate before taking off? I was told it was a full 360° rotation in the air and that I can't rotate half a turn then take off as this becomes a waltz jump?

I’ve been working on these for a few weeks. I feel like I’m getting them but I’m “clunky”. Anyone feel like that? I almost feel like I’m stepping down hard or clunky- I feel like my energy is very “heavy” on the ice… does that make sense?

Thanks so much! Would you be able to make a video on backward rockers? I have a footwork sequence in my competition program that’s using a back outside edge rocker and I would love more pointers on how I can practice it!

1)How come u only do back spins? Is it too difficult to do front scratch spins on these off ice spinners? 2) Why isnt wearing thick man type construction white cotton sox an option. I practice with those on linoleum floor. Or use my mixmatched socks. Wear 2 pair for thickness. I can get in 6 rotations on front and back spins. Yes only on smooth floors. Wears holes in them after weeks of practice. But only $5 for 2 pairs of socks. Or now u can use all those mixed up odds from dryer.

I wish that your videos existed when I was skating! I love the way you break everything down; I know it would have been a big help to me. I gave up skating bcuz of health issues & donated my skates, guards & skate bag to a local rink. I miss it but still enjoy watching competitions & videos like yours! You're a wonderful teacher!💖

I just returned to skating after 24 plus years and I noticed that at multiple rinks that the skaters don’t use the boards to continue their warmup/stretching! It was always part of my warmup before. There’s no rules against it, so I started to do it my last freestyle session and waited for someone to say something to me. No one did 🤣 Thanks for all the hip flexor tips, I even struggled with tight hip flexors when I was an athlete 25 years ago, now I need to make sure I don’t do anything to hurt myself 🤣
