How To DIY Spot // $20 Kicker Ramp

Спорт

Subscribe: bit.ly/2ISqPTj I've been wanting to make a tutorial on how to build a DIY kicker ramp for awhile, so I'm super excited for this video! I'm showing you how to build a kicker/launch ramp from scratch. Starting with a wood form, and ending with a concrete kicker guaranteed to give you a good session!
Had a blast skating the spot with Shuriken Shannon!

You should try making the first bags a little wetter & beat on the side of the form. That'll get rid of those voids on the sides.

Hey dude bmx rider here but I also skate a lil. Take your rub bring use just the edges create random grooves in the old concrete for rhe new concrete to grip too. Easiest way without power tools and not as sketchy looking as a chisel. Btw. Painting your trucks can help them slide better. Aluminium doesn't slide well, steel is better plastic is best. Painting older aluminium pegs is a way to freshen them up for slides. Beer can coping. Try pvc piping cause you can create a a longer section of coping that doesn't need as much filler work. Might also work for making ledges and concrete rails. Lots and lots of lacquer and wax plus polishing the concrete. For bringing in tools and supplies. Try and stash some stuff there early. And break down your concrete plus multiple people. You can hide it that way.

Rad video. Just quick tip. You can also use melamine board for your forms. The concrete will release from the form easily. You can reuse over and again. It coat a lil more but pays of in the end. The liquid prep that help with new concrete to adhere to existing or old concrete is clutch. Sorry the book and nerding out. Enjoy see dude doing diy spot and just trying to share

Little tip. Cinder blocks are fairly cheap. You can do some nutso things with them some concrete and wood for forms. Building a concrete fun box. And gonna try and use pvc tubing to make a concrete rail for that and an A frame bank to bank set up. And if you make any wood stuff. Marine sealant on the wood. Expensive but it'll last forever. Edge seal and seal every inch of in. Good quality marine sealant for wood will last longer then other sealing set ups.

Dope! This helps me as I'm planning something similar. Two bits of advice- back when I used to work on a foundation crew, we would spray our forms down with diesel fuel before filling with concrete... not the most environment-conscious method probly, but it works well to get the forms off clean and easy. Also, if you screw a length of 2x4 to the outsides of the transition pieces, you can run the back boards longer and get a better connection by screwing them into the 2x4s rather than trying to get into that OSB. It'll hold up a lot better and last longer. Destroy!

Friggin rights bro! Love all the DIY stuff poppin up all over the country. One quick tip for a wood concrete form if you want to reuse it a bunch...give it a drink of oil, can be any type of oil really. To keep it somewhat “environmental” you can use canola oil or linseed or olive. Will keep that wood fresh and keeps concrete from sticking to it.

For good spot searching. Go for bike rides. Ride your bike around searching for spots and to and from spots except when a car is just smarter. Always go new directions. Look for spots where nose from skating isn't gonna bother people and check out the area at different times. If you search hard enough you can find secluded spots to build parks in alot of cases. Concrete plus a rain catcher set up. Some random metal for coping. Smooth out the concrete a bunch. Pretty easy to get a spot going. The best spots I've always noticed require alot of people putting effort in. IMHO it's best for skaters and bikers to work together on shit like this cause you can get shit done so fast and get more done. Might do this under a bridge in my city. Bare skaters and bike riders and just build a free skate park. Has rain coverage. Won't be perfect but huge area that's unused. Like could build a 20 foot wide vert ramp that's 15 feet tall and still have room for a bowl a street plaza and some random other shit. Obviously won't go that wild but might be able to push the city to fund something built there via volunteers and some hired construction people. Cinderblocks and concrete plus some plywood for pouring like you did. Gonna make a 4 foot quarter a bank to bank with an a frame rail another quarter maybe a fun box and deffs a couple ledges. See what else peeps wanna put in. Help with it.

The street is called Rio Camino. You go straight down the street, and there is a gate to the right, it says no trespassing, but I go back there all the time, and nobody cares. Bring a broom! Let me know when you are going there, i'll be stoked to meet you!

You’re 1000% right, always wear a mask when mixing!!! I know better (filmed last weekend) did the ol drop & run to avoid the dust because I couldn’t find a mask but it’s true, anyone reading this don’t do what I did, be responsible, mask up!

That's not an 8 foot transition, think about it, it would be an 8 foot board from screw to pen.🤔

Entertaining, but you ramble on into way too much uneccesary detail.
