How to disconnect the exhaust valves on the 2016 Audi RS3 - DISCLAIMER IN DESCRIPTION
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
DISCLAIMER - I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS MODIFICATION CAN FLAG UP AS AN ERROR CODE ON AUDI DIAGNOSTICS AND THEREFORE HAS POTENTIAL IMPLICATIONS ON WARRANTY. THERE ARE UNCONFIRMED REPORTS THAT THIS CAN LIMIT ENGINE POWER AD THE ECU CANNOT REGISTER THE SENSOR FOR THE EXHAUST FLAPS WHEN TRYING TO RELEASE/HOLD PRESSURE. THIS MODIFICATION IS TO BE DONE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!
This video outlines a tutorial for unplugging and securing disconnected exhaust valves.
It is a common misconception that driving the car in ‘dynamic’ mode causes the exhaust valves to be open all the time. This is in fact ONLY true for driving in 1st gear.
For gear 2 and above in dynamic, the exhaust valves remain closed until approximately 3000rpm, above this the valves will open and the symphony occurs.
Disconnecting these valves manually allows the valves to remain open throughout startup, and throughout the Rev range in all gears, thus allowing greater amplitude of sound during normal driving.
One disadvantage is that this modification WILL cause moderate drone when cruising at low revs in high gear on the motorway.

I did this on mine yesterday - thanks for the video mate! I must admit for me it didnt work out aha! I thought I would love it but I do like to be discreeet (sometimes) for work. I had to drive round a retirement estate yesterday with the valves permanently open. I left pretty quicksmart with a bag over my head haha

haha too much of a good thing ey. I found that one of my sensors went back in but didnt feel like it was as secure as before. Like the clip doesnt wanna go back fully, nothing broken though. Seems odd.

Ocelot7 this happens actually, you don’t feel a ‘click’ on pushing back in sometimes. As long as you can’t pull it back out whilst pressing the clip at the top there’s nothing to worry about.
CAn u please make a video how to diy for the RS3 8P please
Nice you just made my mind to buy a cete controller for my pfl rs3 haha
@rs3tube what do u mean getting drone when your 2k rpm?
Would this be same on face lift 2017 ? If so I’m doing this straight away
Question - does the CETE or other ASR products (that connect similar to the CETE), also cause exhaust pressure change variances from stock?

Troy Muni good question - I’m not sure tbh mate

@@RS3Tube I heard it's recorded in the ECU and only Audi diagnostics will see an error code. So basically, they'll know you messed with your car interfering with the ECU. Audi's been known to TDI aggressively for that, so it's risking the warranty.
FYI: Tuned cars drop to ~near stock power levels with the flaps electrically unplugged.

Does this apply to having the delete code terminators that deletes the code off the ecu , does it still affect horsepower?

Why?

@@Island1999 there is a load / boost limit in the ECU for flaps unplugged error class.
so this is standard sports exhaust with the secondary decat? any tunes or would a stock car with sports exhaust and secondary decat sound the same like those pops and bangs?
@RS3Tube

Phillip Berk hi Phillip, yes just the sports exhaust and secondary decat. Aftermarket exhausts are not needed on the PFL RS3.. a friend had full miltek and sounded worse.
Will it keep the check engine light on if i plug it back in after being unplugged. Also can i just do it with one valve so it’s not too loud. and which exhaust valve will make it louder when unplugged the left or right one? Say i’m looking at the back of the car from behind the car would the left one or right one unplugged be louder? Thanks mate
It is stock RS exhaust?😍
Great Video. I’m wondering if the procedures are the same on my B9 S5?

RS3 Tube it’s fine. Also, did you select the dynamic mode before you worked under the car? Or it doesn’t matter
@RS3Tube
5 жыл бұрын
Jayden Li in the RS3 it doesn’t matter because when the engine switches off the valves fall open and then automatically close on ignition independent of what mode the car is switched off in

RS3 Tube Thx!!
I just did one valve haha still noisy as f. Plugged it back in now no error codes that I could see though on a pfl
I have the new rs4 and already hung up ... but it makes a little more noise but I lost the pop corn .. it does not do as before .. have any solution ??

Nv 14 with the v6 you’ll not get as many pops as you know, realistically you’ll probably end up needing a decat. ECU map can also make the pops more obvious, MRC tuning in Banbury can do this
deactivating ahy valves and control panel failure problem
do we still know how to close the valves in comfort mode after this operation ?

Well obviously not
Does this give any warning lights on the dash and is it safe for the car? Won't do any damage or anything?
@RS3Tube
6 жыл бұрын
no1nufc no warning lights, it is safe for the car, you just need to be really sure you’ve covered all the electrical parts with something waterproof. I forgot to mention in the video that not only do you need to cover the male end, but also cover the female end too. If you do that you’re good to go, a good alternative would be to tie a balloon over the clip and cradle.

RS3 Tube okay thanks! Gonna need to try this one day see what's it's like haha! Car goes quiet in 2nd gear under 3k revs
@RS3Tube

no1nufc yeh exactly, tbh if you’re trying it for a day or so on a dry day you don’t REALLY need to waterproof things. Just make sure you secure it away from the hot pipes, you’ll love it but it gets a bit much so you’ll revert to having them plugged in no doubt

RS3 Tube okay thanks for your help 👌🏻
So are the valves open before you even switch on the car? Or do you have to put the ignition on.
@RS3Tube
6 жыл бұрын
What happens is the valves open when you turn off the ignition, they’ll be open on startup (hence why cold start is loud AF) and then you’ll here the valves then close and everything quietens down, that’s why when you turn the car off after being in dynamic, it’ll act like it’s in comfort when restarted.

I’m pretty sure u can just code the valves to be open permanently instead of going through that ? Punch me if I’m Wrong 🤷🏽♂️😂 but my mate done it on he’s golf R !!!

Dennis .:R hi mate, can’t be done on RS3, just golf R and S3 via vagcom, should’ve said that in the video tbf
why would this limit power? The values fully open anyway when above a certain RPM

I don’t get why you would unplug. If you keep in dynamic the flaps are opened. I like to keep in comfort sometimes

Does this make the car faster?

Slower and less responsive through the gears. You lose the backend
Just drive in Individual mode and exhaust open easy yal make it to complicated

Cooki3Cirp valves will still be closed below 4K RPM in 2nd to 6th gear unless you do this
