I understand this is two years old however i was wondering if the onion smell overpowered the other fruits or you did not notice any? There is nothing better than the smell of bananas dehydrating. Love your garden. Im new here.

Enjoyed the video-am interested in dehydrating our excess crops, and trying to decide if I should buy a dehydrator. Has it proved to be a good value for you? Also, what do you use your dehydrated citrus for? I always end up with too much citrus to eat fresh.

Thank you! We have found having a dehydrator invaluable as another way to extend our harvest. Canning/Bottling takes a lot of effort and space, and freezing is limited by the amount of space you have in your freezer. Dehydration is easy, just slice and place into the trays and a huge amount of produce can be reduced into very little through drying. With all the citrus trees in our foodforest, we always have a glut even after giving most of it away! We find dried citrus most useful for making a citrus powder which you can use in cakes and in savoury dishes just as you would lemon juice or rind. It can also be used in drinks, which is delicious - a blood orange or grapefruit drink!
