If you just want to learn how to dehydrate the apricots as the title suggests and not harvest them, skip to 330

Asking Pam Mace to discuss her ex husband is a bad vibe. Keep your preaching to yourself

I'm Lebanese living in Beirut for six months and up in the mountains for the remainder of the year. My wife and I dried some apricots last year. Those came out brown and somewhat like leather and not to my liking. As a punishment to the sorry result, I soaked the dried apricots in an uncut Arak ( pastice) (Ouzo) or moon shine. I love munching on those while drinking their juice. The Turkish dried up apricots we used to buy many years ago were sprayed with dry sulpher to keep their nice yellow color. Can you or any of the readers suggest a way to produce a tender and yet a fresh - looking ersult? I enjoyed watching your video and remembered my visit to Arizona 1983 while I was conducting an educational advisory to a large group of Saudi students in two cities in your lovely state.

Great harvest! Really pleased you're making this video. A lot of people do not realize Phoenix AZ, is ideal for growing apricots & peaches. Thanks again Pam for sharing your garden with all of us.

Love the video. I always wonder why so many people in Arizona don't take full advantage of the sun for dehydration. :)

Thanks Pam, I'm heading to the nursery tomorrow to pick up 4 citrus trees. Now I'm going to add an apricot tree. Didn't realize they do as well here. BTW, I live in Tucson, zone 9b.

I'm jealous! I've been able to get good crops of cherries, lemons, nectarines and peaches, but apricots have eluded me. And it's not because of our climate. I think I've done something wrong.

I picked them a little riper, mushy with seed falling out. Then I laid them out on a large cookie sheet, climbed a latter and put them on the roof in 110 degrees Sacramento sun. I checked constantly the first hour for flies/insects but saw none. It was way too hot. They cooked in four hours, still a little juicy with black/brown color. I like them with more moisture than yours. But they don't last long, gone in 3 months.

I am happy to see you making videos, Pam. I love the sun dry video. I will try this next summer for us Aussies. I have 2 young apricot trees, hope they fruit this year. I will try this method with the tomatoes too. Cheers, Pam.
