I can listen to the Elder with the white hair speak all day. His expression of his belief and what he knows is astounding and pulls you right into his head space. He rumpled some feathers when he described humanity and what does not constitute to it... But I am sure the others also leant learnt something from this discussion whether they admit it or not.

Good and evil is just perspective. What I think is good you might find evil and what I find evil you might find good. Every single person on Earth has both traits. You can't have free will without the balance of good and evil. The free will to make choices.

In its most basic form, Good and Evil can be reduced to Love and Fear, which is the most common basis in thoughts and emotions of what we Like and Dislike, what we consider to be Right and Wrong, or Should and Shouldn't do. Wole told them but that man had a problem with the truth. There are so many evil things “they” did the etc’s represent a long laundry list. They always feel under attack when the truth is spoken. I love mr Turksons comment but find that mr Soyinka makes a critical mistake deviating the discussion into defining evil. That is the complete opposite of the example of thinkers such as Mann, Spinoza and Plato, who nourished humanity with their noble pursuit for goodness. The only way to “save” humanity is to relate to the Godly attributes, to the eternal values and to cultivate a practice for embodying them. Without that, punishing evil is a topic completely void of value and thus of dignity and in my opinion, and i allow myself to be quite harsh here, it’s a practice that taints the whole tradition of philosophy, lowering it into mere speculation.

Good and evil are abstract concepts rooted in religions, and are loosely defined. Just stick to the 'Afterlife' and why its demons (Jesus, Mohammed etc.) interact with or through the living believers of now.

The problem is that this argument is between old testament and new testament and maybe islam as if those are the only possible religious beliefs. Open your narrow Abrahamic eyes. Many evolved societies have completely different beliefs than the ones you are debating.. in fact they resolve most of the issues you all have brought up. Actually we don't have all the time to define good and evil everytime. The first problem being that we can't agree on what we consider good and evil in the first place. So long as volition is the definition of dignity (which is just what the harm principle is all about), then we will run into problem of individualism which will not allow for existence of society. Simply because my volition will be defined by my sense of good and evil and may never agree with other people's? The whole thing about good and evil and volition will then become subjective and nothing else. How can homosapiens exist without objective moral truth?

Moreso you don't know the guy in Afro. Flash !!! He isn't a Christian . He used to be into African deity worship , till he shifted into a belief of just being humans(humanitas). His name is Professor Woke Soyinka. So he isn't even preaching repentance. He is saying you should have a list of what is generally acceptable of good and evil and as humans you should be humans first before being religious. You thought he was preaching Christianity ? You must be ignorant and a joker. Yes you Kimberly.

God is above human comprehension. Jesus Christ is Almighty God and no human reasoning can take that out. Evil exists because Satan, the devil exists. Simple as.

If God or Jesus is forever beyond human reasoning or comprhension then Priest's, Cardinal's, Bishop's etc... around the world have no idea of what their talking about because their speaking on human terms about a being that is quite literally in their own words beyond their understanding. How do you dictate the will of a supposed "deity" that is simply beyond your understanding? I dont ever want to hear a prayer or hymn again if your only argument is "God is above human comprhension". If you dont understand, and have no immediate or long term means of understanding it then God is useless. Like a vague unsolved mystery with no real basis in a world where our human sense of understanding, dignity, rationality, compassion, and intuition is evolving and improving without "divine assistance". Also if evil exist's, then that means your God made it so right? What is evil then? Why are there so many nuances that come with it? Why is your God so vague on what evil is? Why are some members of various churches comitting evil acts? Sound's like God is not all knowing, not all powerful, and/or not all good.

Christianity is a tradition of men and not of God. Jesus isn't a Christian. He never called his ideology christian. Men called it christians and politics changed it all
