​​@@KeterHiramekithat's what I was hoping the trickster was going to be, a status effect based vocation that buffs pawns and debuffs enemies. Instead, we got one buff and a bunch of gimmicks that feel pointless after the novelty of making enemies fight each other and jump off cliffs wears off.

@@fadingghost9723 What I did to make trickster feel good-- was having dragons delusion and using it consistently. It has some GREAT stagger and will stagger enemies 90% of the time. Otherwise-- without dragons delusion I do agree trickster, just falls really short. Because without dragons illusion-- you're either setting up a fall-to-your-death trap and it not working because your pawns have already kill your enemies. Or you're spamming the ATK buff and just standing their watching your pawns do most of the work. I think I would like trickster more if more of it's abilities could invoke stagger or was-- as you said debuffs/status effects

I think the point I knew I was done trying to enjoy trickster was when I realized I couldn’t even kill a seagull or rabbit

Trickster's biggest weakness is that pawns can't use the vocation it's "cool" for a while, and it does have a lot of gameplay benefits but these types of playstyles just aren't for the majority of people. It grows stale fast. If my pawn could be a trickster then it would be great

If you set up your party of pawns as pure damage dealers, you can definitely get away with being a trickster. Constantly keeping enemies vaped up and teleporting your clone to your position so it doesn't take damge while also diverting enemy attention to your new spot while the pawns just eat into health bars. It's a completely different style of play but definitely not a bad one. It's understandable that pawns can't use it because they won't be able to utilize it's aggro move/repositioning like a player can.

@@korewa_Matoya It's not about the total damage. I mean purely from a gameplay perspective, playing non-damaging classes for an extented period of time tends to grow boring fast for most people. Sure, I can have a thief and two sorcs and let them go crazy while I aggro, but that doesn't make it any less boring. For a moment I thought the warfarer might make up for that downside but unfortunately warfarer is the worst class in the entire game. Not only are you incredibly limited which is ironic considering the point of that class is seemingly to be limitless, but trickster especially doesn't synergize well at all. All in all I feel like the classes in DD2 are much worse than DD1. Much more niche, less fun, less customizable and sorc especially has been nerfed into oblivion. Over half the spells are gone. If it weren't for the novelty and some QOL features and updated graphics I'd stick to playing DD1.

@babyjiren9676 that's agreeable, and everyone has their own opinions. I have unfortunately not had the pleasure of experiencing DDDA, but I feel like the Vocations in DD2 hit it for the class fantasies they want. Thiefs definitely feel like I'm playing a D&D Rogue or Archers being a Ranger with their utility arrows. Fighters being stereotypical sword and shield dudes doing sword and shield things, the only thing missing is the blue shirt. The same goes for Trickster or playing a full support Mage. It's a welcome change of pace and definitely feels fun when I'm the one supplying the heals and buffs/cleanse effects and actually playing like a cleric or some such. As for Warfarer, I don't think it was meant to be the 'limitless' vocation because if it was, they would have let us equip 3 skills per weapon. I see it more as a jack of all trades swiss army knife. You can play a main DPS and supplement it with other weapons. Need a Ranged Option (Magick)Archer. Carry a staff for Anodyne in between fights. Slap on the Haste spell from mage and the Damage increase from Trickster (still haven't tested out if it works on yourself yet) with your last slot for a skill for your main weapon. Sure, you won't be able to do more of the cooler shit as a base vocation. But at least you won't be complaining about not being able to hit harpies as a Spearhand (My friend has no idea how the Bolt works)

@@korewa_Matoya I do agree that some of the melee classes are great and do really hit those "fantasies" you're talking about, but I still think there's no real reason to limit so many of the advanced classes to Arisen only. At least not once you've beaten the game. And the best classes in DD2 are (unsurprisingly) those least changed from DD1, such as Thief, Ranger, Mage and Magick Archer. Spearhand is probably the only new addition to DD2 that I feel is genuinely good, though I'm not sure it's superior to the Mystic Knight that was cut from DD1. I get what you mean regarding Warfarer, but rather what I meant by "limitless" was the fact that you can equip any armor and weapon and skill (except meister), but even then the skills just don't synergize. For instance, there's no reason the trickster's decoy should have such a low uptime after switching classes as that just renders the vocation pointless. You really should play DD1, especially if you can get it for cheap. It'll probably feel a little weird going into an older game after playing the latest one, but gameplay is essentially the same. Imo there's just much more freedom, customizability and depth to each class. Sorcerer especially has like double the spells compared to DD2, in addition to some mage spells being available too. It really feels like an advanced class where you maybe started out as mage and then moved on to sorc. There's even spells that allow you to essentially fight melee as a magic caster. Still bottom line for me at least is that all these issues could be easily alleviated if they just made all classes available for pawns.

@@babyjiren9676 UNfortunately I'm currently studying abroad, and I was only able to buy DD2 by refunding my Destiny 2 Expansion pre order from my christmas spendings. So If I do get DD1 it'll either be in 8 months when I get christmas/new years money, or if someone gifts it for me. But it's definitely on my wishlist after trying DD2

I always thought trickster was made for more stealth and solo gameplay but this seems to work aswell

Honestly a missed chance with the class they could have sleep, silence, poison or gas like attack that either increases elemental build up or can buff and remove debuffs on the party even the master skill that either makes enemies scared or fall over is a bit lacking it’s a fighting game why would I want exp to runaway from me.

yeah the tricksters smoke should cause poison status at the very least... even if it did no damage directly the poison condition would at least do something and make sense as filling the censor with poison could be a logical move.

Trickster needs some buffs, at least an attack that causes poison or sleep...

Now I'm going to try it again and obtain the last two levels for the vocation.

I really hope Capcom buffs/reworks trickster, I even wrote about it in the survey they had for DD2. In idea, Trickster is the coolest class, but it's implemented so poorly. Turning it into a pseudo Monk class by allowing you to kick and punch (kinda like Archer, perhaps?) Could do a lot for this class.

Best usage of Trickster is to play Warfarer instead: -Mage's staff, any skill you want (High Celerity is fun) -Censer, equip the damage buff skill -Magick Bow, Fortalice (you could also use the Duospear for the shield ability but I think it's boring) THIS is the True Support Arisen. Makes pawns destroy shit. Funny to see but definitely still not for everyone. I wish Trickster was more of a Status-inducing class instead of what we got. Incense that makes enemies sleepy would work so well.

because if it did damage it would be the strongest class in the game as its basically impossible for trickster to die unless you mess up... it does no damage because it basically takes no damage... if you could kill enemies while the enemy is forced to attack your illusion the entire time no fight would ever be a challenge... at least this way you also cant deal any damage and your pawns can still die. even still... it should cause poison debuff or something at the very least.

@@arcanumelite4853yes, debuffs like poison of some sort would fit perfectly. I was trying to think how to not deal direct damage but still fight solo so it keeps the essence of the class. Idk why the didn't add that.
