Thank you. My knockout are wonderful rose. I always singularly dead headed them. This year I did not prune them back and I found after single dead heading the the plant gave many more buds but half as big. First I heard of five heading. I will give it a go.

Thanks Ann. I got several NZ comments recently on my video on Crocosmia, which is exotic here but seems to be a pest in NZ!

First time to your channel. Trying to watch all your videos. I like the thoroughness and details of your explanations. I'm very visual as a learning and this helps me a great deal. I'm starting to grow a small food forest and edible flowers are part of the garden. I especially enjoyed the climbing rose the was full and in abundance when you were standing underneath the arch. May I ask what the name of it is? It is very beautiful.

Thank you so much. I am very much into the edible forest as well, but it's tricky with the short growing season of the Alps. Unfortunately, the climbing rose has no name: most of my roses come from cuttings I made from ancient varieties growing by village churches - a tradition here. Keep gardening!

Thank you Nomad .. very informative .. with long stemmed roses … do I wait until all the flowers have gone past their best before cutting down to 5 leaves ?

You can wait or, of you have the time, cut each one off as they wilt.

Hi nomad, thanks for sharing. But can l know more about carnation? I have quite a lots of flowers but the petals can be easily dropped because insects ate them. How to get rid of the insects. They are inside the petals. Thanks

You can also deadhead carnations. If they are infected, you can cut the infected parts completely off or spray them with an organic soap solution for a few days in the case of aphids.
