Found this video the other day and my local garage (which I do relief recovery work for) turned off my drl's on my 03 XC90 today. Worked through the video and all done 👍

Yeah I find most of scanners have the functionality, but the users don’t have the knowledge lol. Glad you got it sorted 👍🏼

I will definitely try this first thing tomorrow/monday morning, On point, P lights staying on, burnt bulb conector and the rest happens to my 2005 XC70. i will follow up with the results.

Good video I used to have a Volvo v40 which I was able to turn the day lights off by the way of the indicator arm and then turning the light control knob easy. Pity they didn’t keep that way of doing it But Thankyou for the info

Yes all the old Volvo was as simple as that, and some Saab you just remove a fuse. I’m not against DRL but I just don’t was 14 bulbs burning continuously lol Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Yes it definitely works up to particular year (can’t remember what) but I have done loads of these DRL deactivate. Mainly for burning out bulb holders

Top tip always photograph/ make a note of what the original setting was….. so any mistakes you know exactly how to revert back to orignal settings 👍🏼

Hello again brother can you also adjust beam direction from European lhd S60 whilst driving in the uk so as not to blind incoming traffic with a left hooker but driving on left hand side in the UK as opposed to right hand driving in Europe?

You can buy those little deflectors…. But if memory serves me right the S60 lamps just slide out with 2 pins, so just as easy to buy 2 cheap second hand RHD lights

Autel MK808BT but rather expensive to just turn off the DRLs unfortunately

It’s an Autel unit I use, I’m sure they are widely used around the world. Mine is an MK808BT but just try a few work shops they might have one. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

You will need to replace them, without going down LED route what can cause errors and MOT issues, get some Osram Night breakers

Yeah I use the LED bulbs, but never the less having 14 bulbs continuously running is a pain, plus I hate the face you can’t have the ignition on without all the lights burning. Best having the DRL deactivated and you as the driver choose when you want/need the lights on

That’s based on the Ford Focus, I have never tried wouldn’t like to say tbh

new york cars have the same problem .... id be cool if i could install the led bulbs but nope i learned the hard way with a bulb failure light on for about 3 months.. .ill need to see who has a very pro scan tool to turn this headlight crap off !

Yes it’s a very annoying feature on the Volvo range of this era, as they are filament bulbs that get hot, so ends off burning out the bulb plugs and bulb holders, what did I count them as about 14 bulbs burning constantly. I think only the dipped beam (driving lights) are covered by can bus not the others. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

No you don't boss. On the right of the radio controller hit menu then go to car settings hit enter then hit enter on light settingsdan make sure DRL'S box is not Xed if it is hit enter on ot

On some cars (Honda) you can't even turn this off...so annoying to always burn headlights.

Yes I have had some people call me stupid for Recommending this, it’s purely to stop the bulb holders and bulbs constantly burning out.

Thanks for watching 👍🏼 Unfortunately you can’t turn the bulb warning light off, I did convert a few lights to LED with out error warning, as they were error free bulbs.

Biggest issue with these having bulbs burning all the time is burning out the bulb holders and wiring, causes no end of problems. Hence the DRL are better been de activated and you as the driver can be in control of what lights are on and when

Yeah you could do, I just found it easier to de activate them via OBD

Is it a similar process for the p3 Volvos? The 2006-2016 s80 and 2008-2016 v70?

Yes you need the special functions function for these

On the older ones you can, not these requires diagnostics. Slightly newer ones require coding as well

Yes that’s the new platform, they can be done, just more in depth unfortunately

Yes the earlier Volvos you can deactivate them, but newer ones you need to use this function, newer ones again you need to actually re code them what is madness. Yes I understand DRL are for safety and yes they do work, but when you have 20 year old vehicles running 14 bulbs all the time, it burns the bulbs holders and wiring, not to mention always changing blown bulbs. Just to update also works on the XC90 just done the same with my XC90 👍🏼

No it’s just the same as the S60/S80/XC90 just uses the dipped beam as the DRL, but in turn everything else runs like the front side lights, rear tail lights x4 number plates and side markers. Sure my early S40 i managed to deactivate the DRL
