Only Tapeworms, I had a wild fish so infested with tapeworms they were coming out his mouth, very easily cured with Praziquantinal. As far as most other worms the are usually microscopic and have seen them under a microscope, I have noticed little white packets that the fish drop when deworming, the problem is I always find them at the bottom of the tank and Discus carry so much "GUT" flora that it wouldn't be an accurate sample unless I can get it from the fish or mid water before it hits the bottom, I will keep trying though, I'm such a fish nerd! Ha Ha!

So right now I am dealing with Camallanus worms. What a pain in the butt. Probably one of the hardest worms to rid of imo especially when fish turn lethargic. Levamisol and fenbendazole 💪🏼

Had to watch your video again. I am going to remember the 88 / 93 for 3 rule. I think it makes perfect sense and if you've tested it and seen results, it's worth remembering that. As for the heater's getting stuck "On" It would be hard for that to happen to me since I would only do it with a external controler. I'll talk more about it on Friday night livestream. Hopefully you can make it.

I just came across this, KZread has changed the app on how I get and see my messages. Heat and Salt are my go to because of all the regulations, I'm not sure how much longer we will have access to meds, so extensive testing has gone into both and I just finished testing salt concentration and have some information coming on that soon. The heater situation was my fault because I mark my heaters usually and replace after 18 months but it slipped through the cracks, it's the first time it has happened in 30 years. I'm testing the Aquarium coop heater but I'm looking into controllers as we speak. Some exciting stuff is happening in the fishroom but I am adjusting one of my businesses and expanding another one. KZread has taken a backseat at the moment but I'm going to come back strong when it makes sense business wise. I really do enjoy your channel and just watched your replay on breeder boxes, I learn something new every time. I put my black rams on the back burner but the last full moon I ended up with over 350 fry, so much for back burner. I have 5 videos I have made and are all sitting ready to edit but my extra time and energy are going to making my room exactly how I want it. Living the dream. I really am enjoying watching YOU and TM aquatics in my wind down time at night. Talk to you real soon, Steve

Can you use a heater controller? A thing that will shut power off to the heater if the tank reaches a certain temperature? I've never used one of them but I hear they are pretty good!

This is the first time this is ever happened to me, I'm usually pretty good at changing out my heaters every year but this one slipped through the cracks! I will look into controllers, Thank you for the excellent advice! Steve

I'm testing alot of different sources and treatments and as soon as I think I have it figured out I have to reset and start over. I know this, antibiotics are becoming less effective because of over use. I hope to put together a package and dosages soon and have it available. The Octocil is very interesting, The Germans are usually on the cutting edge and I will be testing it soon. Most countries can not use the meds we use in the U.S. so a world wide solution would be amazing, but we will have to wait and see how it goes.

@shelleraquatics I am thinking about buying Octocil directly from the manufacturer since I speak German and my in laws live there still. I have been using Prazi Pro, ich x and a few other things. I think in some cases we over medicate our fish.

Whoa! Thanks Sheller Aquatics, what great information and I feel the same as you, we never know it all, it's always about learning. I have found the same issues with talking to Vets. They just don't have the experience with fish to comprehend what we're doing. Also, I learned a few things that I wish I had realized before. One of them is that little trick about the lights out when treating with Levamisole. I knew that it was light sensative but do you think it would clicked in the brain? I take such care to keep it in the dark, then I put it in the aquarium and turn up the lights..... ugh! It's so obvious. Thanks for the great videos and keep the info coming.

@@shelleraquatics Yes, I breed Greg's Odessas. I'm the one listed on his home page for individuals interested in these fish but who live in Canada. I started with Greg's Odessas when I was in California back in about 2016. Since then I've had some very interesting experiences with the Odessas and my experiences will be shared in an upcoming video on Greg's channel. I got more of his fish after setting up a new fish room in Ontario Canada. We correspond regularly. These Odessas are very nice and have a lot of mystery still left to be unlocked. For example, what makes them turn dark black at times with that deep red stripe. It does not appear to be related to breeding as is the case with most fish that show their most vibrant colors especially when breeding. Odessas are a very lively fish and I often refer to them as "ninja" fish because when the net goes into the water, they suddenly behave like ninjas and it's really tough to get them into a net. They are uncanny when it comes to hiding. They can do a completely disappearing act, but if you want to see them, provide LOTS of hiding places. Then they come out in the open 'cause they feel so secure. - Michael Beat

That is awesome, I bred his fish about a year ago and now are all over my State. It is so funny you talk about catching these fish, one of my first videos spotlighted this fish and I talk about how hard they are to catch. Wait a minute, I watched some of your videos. I watched one on Grindal worms and I'm starting a culture as we speak because of that video. I'm a huge believer in clean live foods and I'm using your sponge/screen method. So thank you, I really enjoy your videos, I don't spend much time watching youtube unless I'm learning. I also breed the black Ram, I used to breed all the Rams but space has made me scale down to the midnights and I also got tip on breeding the Rams, THANK YOU! Steve Heller

@@shelleraquatics Thanks for the link. I took a look. Did yours ever get very dark like the ones in this video of mine: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4CFo5mMdLi-mrg.html I am not sure how to replicate their mood in this fashion, but they seemed to do great with the java fern but they did nibble it down.

I found a video from Australia that sent me down the road of livestock products. Here in Canada you can’t buy anything at a fish store that works. I went to a vet and talked to them and the looked at me with glazed over eyes. Zero interest which is sad really.

It is sad and frustrating that the professionals don't have answers. They don't see any monetary gain for aquariums most professionals in the veterinarian trade focus on food fish. We have to be our own pro's. Steve Heller

I'm working on it, the problem is the corporate aquarium trade uses such low doses of medicine to keep the fish sick so you have to keep buying more, this keeps profits up. I'm working with 99% pure lab grade levamisole so I have to do massive testing to ensure I don't kill fish with overdosing but solve the problem not just put a band-aid on it. This is taking time and exhaustive trials. In the end it will be worth the wait.
