I once heard a story about a man who was stranded on an island. One day he happened upon a bunch of starfish and got the idea to eat them. But then he remembered that sea stars regenerate legs so he had the idea to just cut off the sea stars' legs and then allow them to heal so that he would have a potentially infinite source of food. He survived on that island for 2 years on starfish meat. I don't know how well something like that would work in real life but I imagine it would be pretty easy to breed starfish for the sake of making lots of meat but keeping them alive so they can make more

They just drink the soup, like tea. Starfish can be used in calming, treating stomach pain and thickening the intestines. And not only in Asia, but in the world, starfish has become a disaster. In China and the Philippines, the starfish is like flood. There are a large number of starfish in the coastal area. The density can reach 300/㎡. They frantically prey on captive abalone, scallops and clams. A starfish can eat more than a dozen scallops a day, causing huge economic losses, which can reach hundreds of millions. In the Philippines, China and Japan, at least 70% to 80% of the seas have been infringed, and some areas are as high as 90%. A fishing boat can capture a ton of starfish in a single day, and the fishermen there suffer heavy losses. In these Asian countries, including China, Japan, and the Philippines, and even the United States, millions of dollars are spent every year to prevent starfish disasters!

People from Guangdong porvince eat many kind of wired things that most Chinese people (from other part of China) dont eat, and they always make some reason for that, like eating certen food can cure some kind of disease.
