When I needed to cut an extreme angle last year, I remembered few years back, in a different video, you taught the same thing but in a “poor man” version, with a piece of wood cut at 45degree and placed against the fence. It definitely helped getting my job done!

Ive been doing it this way for over 20 years. Simple piece of plywood or scrap and off u go. This fence is slick as hell... But absolutely not required.

Another great clip with useful info Richard. Thanks. While we're talking extreme angle jigs, I thought I'd just add a good thing to know I figured out from trial and error: When creating shadow boxes going up stairs, most of the time stairs incline at a 45 degree angle. That means the angles you need for your miters in this application are: 67.5 degrees and 22.5 degrees. With any one of these extreme angle jigs, you can hit those 67.5 degree extreme cuts spot-on every time. And of course the 22.5s are a piece of cake. PERFECT stair shadow boxes every time!
Been remodeling my house for a few months now, I’ve watched a ton of your videos and have learned to hang crown, install shaker style wainscoting, craftsman door moulding etc… Just got to the stairs and I could not figure out how to tie the base moulding into the existing moulding. This video is exactly what I needed. Thanks!
I was cutting extreme angles recently on the mitre and just used a piece of scrap wood cut to 45 degrees as my fence..worked perfectly. Great video and explanation.
As a fellow trim carpenter, that fence is the truth! I’m going to get one for my saw ASAP!

I am really appreciative of his channel his expertise and his freedom to release his knowledge that he has acquired through life and experiences showing the average guy secrets and tools of the trade. Thank you much respect!
You are genuine and honest. I love your channel
That's what I like about you is you sheer good products with your viewers. With no sponsor attach
Respect to you Richard! $400 for that jig is a pro step for sure. As a home owner and an occasional rare trim person, I just cannot justify spending that amount. Would love ❤️ too but I value my marriage of 45 years too much. 🤣 Love the channel and you have taught me so much already. Keep giving brother!
Pretty slick!✅ Thanks for breaking it down Richard!🤙🏼🤓
i just benefited myself watching your video!, great finding!, i have a coming up job which this tool will be highly used!! thank you!! from Toronto Canada!!
Cool video. Looks like the way I’ve been doing it for a long time just using my homemade wooden cabinet squares. They work great. Also they allow me to glue the wood to them for ultimate precision and safety. Especially on flex moulding.
Thank You Richard for sharing! Keep up the good work!! See you in your next video!@
I remember seeing an older video of you doing this with a scrap of wood 45°'d, I recently had to make a similar jig and screwed through fence to miter some deckboards at 75°. I'm gettin this!
great tool addition to my mitre saw , thank you
Helpful video as always. Thanks Richard.
I knew there was more to this fence purchase! Game changer for sure!
That attachment and accessories are incredible! Ingenious invention.
Great instruction. Thank you for the time and effort you took to make this video and share it with us. Greetings from Croatia.
Now that’s COOL👍🏻 There’s ALWAYS a situation when need to make an “extreme” cut, it happens and if able to have this accessory to help, that’s great 😀
Man I'm gretting pretty tired of coming across your vids showing me all the things that I can't live without! 😜
Yessir that someone to benefit is me ! Thank you for aqnother great video, short, sweet and full of content !!

That is great def needed something like that before. Keep up the great info
Very nice. Great explanation and video
You had me at “game changer”!!
I use my framing square up against the fence, same results!
I did this in wood to splice 1 x 4" boards together when I had eight footers, and needed eleven foot lengths and another time when I built an a-frame stand thing for an outdoor swinging bench the wife had to have. I left the saw at 90 and built the fence to the angle needed - but this idea makes a jig that much more versatile. I called mine a Board Stretcher Jig when I made my first one.
Nice neat simple solution. I likey like it!
Dude that set up is beautiful
Sweet as a nut. Why not treat yourself to new tools if it makes the job easier more efficient and makes us happy most of all.😊 People don't understand 🤣🤣 We all remember the days of the mitre saw block. Oval nails and a punch. Watched load of your videos always make me lol. And great tips. Keep it up.
Wow, that is extreme...even i gave the whistle of approval
I have a homemade wood miter saw table that I use. I normally just attach a homemade fence. But I like that setup for speed and accuracy 👍
Now it all makes more sense. LOL. These are great attachments too by the way.
Wow. Great info! Thanks
Your a genius 👏, I've learned a lot from your videos Thanks
You're the best. So neat of a cut.

Hey richard. First off, thank you for all of the great content, the humble attitude, and the inspiration. Have you posted anything about dealing with outside corners when the floors aren’t level? Is it best to scribe base to floor and keep dead level or to compound miter? This is where i always seem to get stuck...perhaps im missing a simple solution?
thanks for the video
Wow that’s awesome. I’m a carpenter myself so thanks ! I’ve tried to make extreme angles where my piece of mounding isn’t touching the fence and it can get dangerous
Might have to make one out of ply for my saw!
Cool jig. I probably need one!
I had to put in a coffered ceiling once. It involved a grid of cosmetic box beams with plywood squares set inside them. Then crown molding was mitered to fill the square recesses. At one point, the ceiling had some odd shapes and I had to fill in a coffered recess with an internal angle of about 30 degrees. The miter cut on the crown molding required a cut that was about 27" long. I was able to start the cut with the Dewalt miter saw but had to finish it with an old-fashioned carpenter's hand saw. The crown molding was foam rather than wood so it wasn't too bad.
No more extreme Angles with the damn circ saw. Thank you for this
The beauty of this auxilary fence is that you get fast, repeatable cuts with no guesswork. Makes you look like a rockstar when trimming out stairs.
Man what a great beautiful idea 👏👍
That's a really cool system you got
That’s incredible!!
This is awesome! 👍
I haven't heard the word extreme used that much since the last Mt Dew commercial I saw. That is an awesome tool though. I'll definitely be looking into buying one. Thanks for the tip.
I’ve always used a speed square for extreme angles. Slam the speed square down onto the saw and, BOOM! 45 degrees. As you stated, a person doesn’t encounter those extreme angles often. Having said that, I love the gadget!

Excellent tool for a professional finish carpenter! For homeowners, grab a scrap 2X4 and and 2x6 cut a 45 degree, put them together with pocket screws and voila😉. Thanks for the suggestion and showing such a great product!!
Hey man could you do a video about compound miter cuts. I always learn something from your videos and I need to learn how to find the right degree of bevel to set the saw too. Please help an apprentice out.
What ever happened to the videos and the projects of that ladies house she was custom building? Keep up the great work Richard! Huge fan!
Helps alot😬
You can do some fancy work with that jig! Thankfully we don’t use those angles often!!
Dang, it out of stock. I guess they are selling a ton of these because you've shown it on your channel, and i believe a bunch of you're viewers are professionals like you. Thanks again for the share, keep up the good work. Oh yeah, what happened to the flip house project? How did that go?
I want to know where you got you’re miter saw rig. Looks really nice. And also you’re out feed support for you’re table saw. Thanks
i enjoy the dead-pan humor bro................u would be fun to work with
Many of us old school carpenters have been making extreme angle jigs out of scrap wood for decades and they are free used to use them trimming staircases

Scrap wood is the best for a lot of things. I'm not old school, just can't justify the purchase as a hobbyist, but I made a similar jig after watching @Sawdust and Wood channel and his angle jig video.
@hmtrimworks7148
3 жыл бұрын
Yup... And if you set your saw at 45° and put a square piece of plywood to the fence as an auxiliary fence you can cut both sides of the miter without ever pivoting your saw... put the first piece against the fence, and the second piece into the fence... it’s an old picture framers trick
Pretty cool !!
Cool tool! ...I always just angled it out off the fence, until it's caulkable...:)
I’m on my lunch break and have no need to learn this... but I’m not complaining.
50 yrs as finish carpenter…mine is made of 2 x material pre fancy stuff
Nice thanks
SO RAD,Richard is the Guru!!!!!
Pretty cool indeed
Can you please show a video on how you calibrate your mitre saw?
As a trim carpenter, I used to run across a 45 degree inside corner for baseboard and shoe mold every once in a while. I figured out that if a made a 45 degree box and clamped it to my fence then set the miter to 22 1/2, it would give me the correct miter for the corner. This is certainly much better!
Mines on order!
That is neat, easy to make one yourself too
That is SWEET!!
Got to have.....awesome
Just joined your channel Does the jig come complete with parts for chop saw
Awesome but I got a question .. Does this work for crown molding for those sharp inside corners? If it does can you make a video tutorial?
This video was extreme 😊
I can get a trim joint that is tight enough that you don’t need caulk, but your joint lines literally disappear. Well done
Are u able to demo how this can be used when installing ogee profiled skirting boards, i.e. do u still scribe and cope out the the profile?
That was awesome
That is so cool....
Not that I dont love gadgets but a nice speed square can do this in a pinch
Do they mage the extreme fence for the smaller Dewalt miter saw

Wow that’s amazing looks great it truly is a game changer I would just like to cut one look at it jut to put my name on it and Say I made that wow
How is the house flip coming along?
How do u cut extreme crown moulding angles using this jig
That's nice to see somebody made one, but I've been doing it for years with a 2 x 4 great video peace brother
I take a 2x6/8 and cut a 45* angle on it, and then screw on a 1x4 to make a fence for taller trim. Since these angles are so few and far between I really couldn't see myself wasting the space on a permanent piece like that, but if I had to do this all of the time, then it's probably worth it just for the speed and accuracy.
