What a nice feeling to have a KZreadr say "you see those? They were already there." And have 100% certainty that it is a true statement.

I did not believe this would actually work. I often fine items at yard sales thrift shops etc that I think would make nice planters. I would use the old fashion glass drill bit to drill holes. I saw this video and ordered these bits. I am the hole drilling queen. The water bottle idea is amazing. I had no idea that would work. I am so happy I came across this video. Forget ever paying full price for planters again. I make planters from anything now. Any cute jar I fine is instantly a planter. Thanks so much.

I use these drill bits with a drill press to cut flat holes (with a bottom) into old bricks, to accept those candles with a metal potty around them. Works as a charm.

@@chrisnotap I'm sorry, but I can't seem to find that brick right now. I believe it went into one of those boxes with decorations in it, because we mostly used it in the winter. It's fairly easy made. I used a normal soft red brick. I chose one that was broken out of an old house during renovations, with the concrete on it and even a bit broken off. It is absolutely unique and has that shabby chic to it. I drilled the drill bit with the candle diameter into, until it bottomed out. I then chose the drill bit with a little less than half the diameter, and I kind of randomly drilled around into the material that had to go. This left some brittle pieces standing, which I got rid off by jacking a screwdriver between them. As last step I swept the bottom of the holes flat by shifting the brick around on the drill press with the small drill bit down in the hole. Clean up the mess, and you're done. It really helps to adjust the drill press, so that you can press the spindle into the low end of its travel. This way you get a nice and flat bottom in the hole.

Try adding a felt/foam/rubber pad to the drill itself to prevent a harsh collision with the glass after you’ve drilled through.

What an absolute legend this man is. First he made smoking machine and spend ton of money on weed and cigarettes to show what it does to lungs. Than he made a video to show benefits of vape over smoking , and now he dropped two parts of pro tips and tricks of cutting holes in glass.

It’s actually for both the water keeps it cool and doesn’t allow the glass around the cut area to get overheated which can cause the glass to run out where you don’t want it to and yet at the same time what you saw in the action lab video allows the Glass to fracture out faster which reduces the amount of chance for the glass to break where you don’t want to it’s weird but it works

I went to Home Depot and did not find a diamond drill bit. I did find a small one, which is the size I needed, at Lowe's for $19.95. I used your technique and it worked like a champ! Thank you!!

I did this today! A big problem though ... I ran out of pots that needed holes. Had to go get some from my sister. Too much fun!

You can reduce chipping when you ensure that the backside of the wall you are doing thru is pressed against wood or something similar.

I will never need this skill, but I sure enjoyed the video

This was a very cool video. Thank you for telling me about it. I hope I get brave enough to try this. I grow rare plants and cactuses. Sometimes pots come with no holes and drainage is very important. I hope to fix some of my pots so they can hold the right kinds of plants better.

Hi, I cut bottles to make lamps regularly, and you can do it with a drill press and a flat bottom container with towels at the bottom and water to cover the bottle, it works great. The towels absorb the vibration, and the water covering the bottle keeps it cool. Have done hundreds.

Wow. Ten years ago, I had to replace the glass face on a barometer with a reset-able hand. Couldn't find a blank with a hole so I set out to do it on my own. I spent hours at a drill press with a glass bit but couldn't get through. Ended up putting the resetting hand aside. I'm off to see if I can find that hand and the extra blanks I bought..... Thanks @Chris Notap. Very cool vid and the cooling water is brilliant.

To make your wood jigs last almost for ever, coat them with mineral oil. The oil will soak into the wood and protect them from the water. Apply once wait 24 hrs and apply a second coat. Works great on new or old cutting boards as well. Hint, look in the laxative section of your local grocery store.

Another great video! I know what you mean about practice. I had a porcelain vanity bowl faucet hole I needed to enlarge for a new faucet I was installing. It was my first time trying something like this, and when the bit broke through, I was not ready and the bit bound and chipped out the top finish around the hole! Fortunately, the escutcheon covered the blunder. Thanks for the great tips. I'll be ready next time!
