Watched my dad doing this when he came to help me working on my first house. Like in the video, he cut every piece by hand with astonishing accuracy, using tools that he'd owned and used since he was a boy working in a joinery shop. Sadly he's not with us any more but really took me back to watch a skilled craftsman sharing the knowledge on here. Thanks.

@@spendtimesavemoneydiy It's perfectly understandable why someone would use a short intro to advertise themselves with a jingle (why wouldn't they)... but it's getting the balance. For example.. if someone is showing you how to change a timing belt on a car and the video is an hour long then a little innocuous 'lift' music is spot on. Thanks for your reply and keep up the great work. You help us a lot mate.

Thanks for this. I am about to fit oak skirting to an old Victorian house. Your tutoring and saw skill is very good and I will follow this on some rather pricey oak that is getting a Danish oil finish as the wood is to add to the character of the room. The original skirting was ripped out in the terrible 80's and it is tough getting skirting to match the 1880's.

Hi mate, just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this! I've come to this today to use as a tutorial to do a scribed skirting corner, which I've never done before. I've never used a coping saw for this kind of thing, so would never have thought to use that type of saw to scribe - has been perfect getting the curved profile. Really really great video and straight to the point - new subscriber!

gary robinson Thanks for the comment! I always back cut quite a bit so there is less chance of anything getting in the way of the scribe closing up. Also if the cut is slightly out a rough piece of sandpaper is all that's needed to fine tune it! 👍🏼

nick evans back cutting is when you angle the saw so you cut more away at the back so only the front edge touches the other piece of skirting board. Hope this helps

This exactly how I was taught to do internal corners, best video on youtube on this subject. But I find it quite difficult on the double sided skirting boards. Tricky to mark out mitre and straight cut when there's a profile on both edges of the board.
