I'm about to paint my first custom figure which is actually going to be Firefly V2. I wasn't sure what you meant about giving it a wash but referring to painting. (Not soap and water) Is it a specific paint that your calling a wash or am I just misunderstanding? Either way, nice job!

It's a technique called "washing." In the case of Firefly I used liquid shoe polish. The wash is applied (brushed on) to the entire figure (if that's the look you want) and then wiped off, leaving color only in the creases and furrows. You can make your own wash with a 4:1 mix. 4 drops of thinner or water to 1 drop of paint. Let me know how it turns out, would like to see it.

For the black I use an off brand shoe polish and for the dark grey and brown I used Vallejo acrylic paint watered way down. I found out that Vallejo sells washes in a pack that I just purchased. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0048Z3OOC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2L5UM4TTY8A8E&th=1

Nice job ,I cut that high neck guard off of mine aswell looks much better and I added a gray mandalorian helmet from gridiron studios looks much better.

I’ve seen some of the retro figures Hasbro has done. The classified version is really detailed and cool except for the clunky vest.

I understand where you are coming from. You are correct in he is a mercenary who works for the Cobra Organization as a saboteur. However he is not a ninja. Not all that wear a mask and cowl are ninja. Hasbro's classified line gave some upgrades to the characters and if I played with bombs I would probably have some type of armor.
