Looks like that to me too. And did the ends of the blanket stitch ever get secured? That was never mentioned at all.

Yes it did gather,I suppose if you worked 2 crochet stitches into each blanket stitch it would be looser ,or worked blanket stitches closer together,very vague tutorial

Please do not do videos in which you hold the crochet hook incorrectly. The handle of the crochet hook should be held on top of the thumb with the thumb and index finger on either side of the flat portion of the handle. The way you are holding the hook, in the palm of your hand, is ergonomically wrong. It causes cramping in the muscles of the hand and wrist and contributes to carpal tunnel syndrome, especially in people who crochet for hours at a time. It is only in recent years that people have begun holding the crochet hook incorrectly. When the craft began, people tried all sorts of methods and found that holding it as I have described worked faster and caused far less stress on the hand and forearm. That is why the hook was designed with that flat portion. So, please, if you are going to instruct people, provide proper instruction and example in your videos.
