How to Crochet Granny Square Fluted Edge

Ever wonder how to crochet a border for a granny square? Maybe something unique like a fluted edging?
In this video I'll show how to make a border edging for a granny square. This fluted edging creates a very slight wave in the edging that resembles fluted pie crust edges. it's a two round pattern consisting of V stitches on the first round and both front post and regular double crochet stitches on the next round.
For my sample I'm using a 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn and a size 5.5 mm crochet hook. Feel free to use any other size yarn and crochet hook.

Yes, definitely, it will look great with the 2 strands of yarn for this edging as well.
Does this help make the blanket less wavy and wonky as it hangs off the bed??
Good morning. When doing the fluted stitch, are you starting after the corner is done?

I'm starting after the regular granny square has been completed fully. Then I start on a "side" space, mostly because it's easier to teach in the video that way. Once you know the corner pattern, feel free to start there if it's easier.
I was going to make a granny square afghan soon. Will this keep the border from curling or folding up? That's my biggest problem with making a large granny square

I don't have any issues with granny squares curling, so this border doesn't curl on mine either. What might help to prevent the curling is changing the number of chain stitches in the granny square. For example, if on the sides you don't make a chain in between the sets of 3 DC stitches, try making a chain 1. If you already do a chain 1, try maybe making a chain 2 in between. Same with the corners, if you do 2 chains in the corners, try 3. And if you already do 3, try maybe 4. More chains might help alleviate the curling.
