How to Crochet: Easy Suzette Stitch Beanie
Suzettes Beanie is an easy crochet beanie pattern worked in simple single and double crochet stitches, and available in 7 sizes from Newborn through Adult Large. I'm showing how to work the Teen/Adult Small size.
You'll need Worsted Weight Yarn - I'm using Swish in Dove Heather, an H8/5mm Crochet Hook, and Tapestry Needle, plus a soft tape measure as gauge is important.
Order Swish right here (aff link): shrsl.com/35i7v

All my years crocheting I’ve never seen the way you save a stitch for the end. Amazing. You are a great teacher. Thanks so much for this pattern. Glad I found you. ❤️

You made my day, Kathy! So glad you enjoyed this tutorial. That traveling seam used to drive me so crazy, and I know I'm not alone so I try to share whenever I can ☺️
This is the way I crochet beanies, too. I self-taught because I didn't want seams. I am glad to know its actually "okay" to do this way. 😅❤

Thank YOU for such a kind comment, and the feedback! I am so glad you found it helpful. I try my best to show every step, and explain, so all can feel confident about making it too ❤️ I remember when I started crocheting, I blindly followed videos that didn't go into detail, and I had some questions, especially in the end if it came out to big or small.

Love the video was wondering can you do on a loom
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
Жыл бұрын
I am not familiar with working on a loom. Looking at some beanies that have been made on one, the stitches look to mock the knit and purl stitches of knitting so I don't think so, but again, I haven't worked on a loom so can't say for certain.
Hi, beautiful hat! I just joined your channel and made this hat but it turned out way to big. My stitch count was right on and i used the same hook sizes, Im not sure what happened..I want to make another one, do you think I should stop the increase rows at 60 stitches or go down a hook size? Mine is 22 inches around. Thank you 😊
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I explain gauge in the pattern. It's really important to take for projects where the finished size is essential. I recommend starting there to judge going down one or two hook sizes. I also show how to measure the finished diameter, and explain how wide it should be to get the correct size. You could also just work with the same hook, and stop increasing when it measures correctly.
I have seen only one other here on KZread that used the “ false stitch “ in her work .
Confused. R 9 30 clusters. R 10 35 clusters. My R 9 has 35 clusters. Written pattern. Love your work
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
7 ай бұрын
35 is correct. It's a typo in the written pattern - I will correct it. You will have half the number of clusters as you do total stitches before beginning the clusters.
Very well explained. Lovely tutorials Pattern is beautiful and easy. Just one question. If I want bigger size. How to increase the Pattern ? Please guide me. Thank you. 😘
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
Жыл бұрын
So glad you like it! For the adult large, you'll start with 11 DC in the ring, and increase up to 77, but leave one stitch off so it's 76 because the suzette stitch pattern needs to be a multiple of an even number. You can find written instructions here: eyeloveknots.com/2016/05/slanted-shell-beanie-toddler-child.html

@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
Жыл бұрын
@@armaitypooniwala4762 I don't exactly understand the second part to the question, but if you're looking to make a larger beanie, you need to start with 11 DC in the ring.
Hey, any idea why my hat's rounds ended up so small compared to yours? I'm at about 4 1/2 inches across at R7 rather than 6 3/8ths. I'm using size 4 yarn and a 5mm hook, I'm not certain what I'm doing wrong, haha!
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
Жыл бұрын
We all crochet with different tensions, some tighter and some looser, and in projects where the finished size matters, it's important to take gauge, as discussed around 15 minutes 30 seconds. I recommend going up a hook size or two. If that doesn't work, you may want to increase the crown more.
Can I crochet this hat using size 3 yarn. If so do I need to make any adjustments such as hook size or more or less stitches.
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
3 ай бұрын
Hi there! The crown will most likely require more rounds of increases. You can try it, and then see how close you are after checking gauge. Otherwise, I would recommend starting with my Lightweight Grace Tinley Beanie video for the crown. I use a #3 weight yarn, and the same size hook: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hnl8zKezgae_o7g.htmlsi=IriF0gui9FR-T5pk Once you get the crown done, you can come back to this video for the suzette stitch in the body, working evenly around. You will most likely need to add more rounds to the height of the body too so just measure before fastening off.

Is that second increase of the first stitch going into the slip stitch?
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
2 ай бұрын
I suppose it could be. I always just say it's the first stitch. It will be the stitch right underneath where the beginning chain is, and the stitch will come out just to the right of the chain.
If you start with a magic circle, it will reduce the bulk at the first row.
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet

I like starting using my methods, but definitely use whichever method works best for you 😊
i am using thicker yarn, My measurement is bigger than yours. Will that matter Since i am making it for an adult?
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
6 ай бұрын
Hi there! It will matter. It will result in a finished beanie that is too big. Two ways you can look at it... If it's quite a bit bigger, then perhaps you can just take out one round of increases. Make sure to measure to see if the diameter matches. Otherwise, you'll want to go down a hook size, and then rework the sample, and remeasure the diameter.
Can a regular 4 weight be used?
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
8 ай бұрын
Worsted weight #4 yarn is used in this pattern. Make sure to check gauge. It is important to ensure the hat will fit correctly.
Hi This is Kat again. . . I’m continuing to make Chem Caps for the children’s hospital. I’ve been using only your patterns. Since they are for kids, do you have any suggestions (or can you make a video) for a candy corn pattern and a rainbow pattern? Thanks. Hugs.
@eyeloveknotscre8tioncrochet
Жыл бұрын
Hi Kat! I saw this message a couple days ago, and have been doing some brainstorming. I do have a Candy Corn beanie pattern, but it's for preemie size only. I have a couple things on my hook to finish over the next couple days, and then I'll work on updating the Candy Corn beanie for all sizes. I love this idea! A rainbow is a really fun idea too! I think a beanie with more rounds would be better so you can get all the colors in there. Maybe the Haylee Beanie, worked in half double crochet. The smallest size is 15 rounds so that would give you 2 rounds of each color plus one extra, kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZ-Or6NsgMS8qMY.html Or the Suzette Beanie, worked in the Suzette stitch pattern of single and double crochets. The smallest size is 12 rounds so you don't have quite as much to work 2 rounds each, but pretty close and the texture is lovely, kzread.info/dash/bejne/f6aO0aqTgcbLf6g.html Or a rainbow applique sewn onto a beanie would be a cute touch too! I don't have a pattern for one though.
