Crochet Bear Beanie (0-3 months)
Yarn : medium weight #4 (you only need about 1 oz / 24 gram to make this beanie)
Hook : 5.00mm / US H
Measurement : 5.25 inches (height), 14 inches (circumference), stretchable up to 16inches
Beanie

Make magic loop / ring
Round 1 : chain 2, make 12 dc in the loop. Slip sts, close loop by pulling the tail.
Round 2 : chain 2, 2 dc in every sts. Slip sts (24 sts)
Round 3 : chain 2, * 2 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 8x. Slip sts (32 sts)
Round 4 : chain 2, * 3 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 8x. Slip sts (40 sts)
Round 5 : chain 2, * 19 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 2x. Slip sts (42 sts)
Round 6-8 : chain 2, 42 dc. Slip sts
Round 9 : chain 1, 42 hdc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop). Slip sts
Round 10 : chain 1, 42 hdc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop). Slip sts
Round 11 : chain 1, 42 sc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop). Slip sts
Chain 1 to secure sts, cut yarn
Ear (make 2)

    Thank you so much for this video! So the ears lay flatter against the edge I only crocheted in 9 stitches for round 2. I left stitch 10 blank and it made a nice curved edge to attach to the beanie.

    Newborn size you made must be for 7lbs baby or less. To change size up to 3-4 months size would I increase hook to “J” size?? How would I curve front around & down to form ear covers to block wind, also?? Thank you Jenny.

    Great, she used medium weight yarn #4. I googled what the equivalent of that is and they said 10 ply so I thought my 8 ply yarn is close enough but noooo now I've a beanie which can probably only fit a doll's head 😂

    Sometimes I use a larger hook and that will make it larger. And maybe baby. Sports yarn will make it larger as well. Hope this helps!

    Does anyone else’s pattern on the last rows appear on the inside of the hat instead of the outside? I’ve been noticing lately that my patterned stitches will be on the opposite side compared to the tutorial videos 😭😭 I don’t know where I’m going wrong.

    You are working on the 'wrong' side of the work. Keep your tail end on to weave in at the end and while you are crocheting keep it facing you. In the case of this hat you want it to be inside the hat as you are working on it. A saying some use is "keep the worm in the bowl" lol. I know this a late reply but hope that helps

    Thank you for this pattern. My only issue is your written directions are not clear. It should read something like 1 dbl crochet in the next 2 stitches then an increase of 2dc. I had to redo two rows because of this not being written correctly

    I think its 6 mm hook not 5 mm, i was using 5 mm and not even close to 5,5 x14 inch its about 4x11 inch *very far

    This 0-3 month patron is way to small to fit over a baby's head....I also try the newborn patron it fits over dolls head. ..way much time lost on crochet this hats.......
