One thing i have learnt from these is that reflective streets aren't so hard to make as you first think. And also how much making texture maps/sheets saves time. For the train station i am working on i was using a different image texture to do all the stuff like signs and maps and ads and it took forever and got messy in terms of finding the right materials to edit etc. Spending half hour cropping all the signs i found from images into a few giant 4k images made the same work possible in ten minutes. So, if you cant find a big image of many signs like these neon ones, it is so worth it to make them yourself rather than map to 45 different image textures. Probably bloody obvious but hey might help someone ! Cheers for another sick video dude. Learning so much from you its insane !

The laminated pavement in Noir really began with Micheal Mann's 'Thief' and 'Blade Runner' turned damp streets into an art form unto itself. Well done, Mr. Hay!

The reason why you have reflective floors in dark scenes is because an exterior floor is usually dark and non-reflective so to bring it out you make it reflective. Otherwise it would just be a dark area in an image. This technique is used in movies.

Amazing. It’s like watching magician reveal the trick. At first glad I’m like damn that must take insane effort. Then you get expiation on how it’s done and it’s not so bad after all.

That's a lot of okonomiyaki places haha. Amazing work, the only thing that rubs me the wrong way a little is the mirrored "プロミス" sign. I mean, it's not like people wouldn't be able to read it but it's a bit weird. Celldweller would have a field day writing songs about Neo Tokyo while looking at this picture lol

@@maxhayart Well, it's generally a bad idea to mirror any type of writing haha That being said, using the screenshot from node editor as a texture is a stroke of genius, it really adds to the feel of the image.

put your mouse of existing windows and your mouse will turn into a cross, then just drag out to make a new window which you can then change with the top left icon
