This was super useful. Definitely impressed with the results at about the 48 minute mark. Thanks for another great video (even though I’m like a year after the fact, 😂).

Good job. At the end you say crop (with the transparent png), but it's really a mask. Cropping is cropping out vertical and horizontal parts of the image. The first masks I used were in my Father's printshop and we used rubylith (a dark transparent plastic). This essentially told the camera to see it as pure black. I had to cut the masks by hand, Yeah photoshop.

Love your video. I have an issue when rendering. The reflection doesn't show up in the render. What am I missing?

What a great video. I'm trying to create a chrome text logo. I can't get the faces to light. Only the curved surfaces look like chrome. The flat surfaces are white. I've changed orientation, rotated environment, changed brightness and EV. Can't figure it out.

My environment backgrounds are very blurry until I hit render. Did some research and the only forum answer I found was about processing power and striking a balance. Are the backgrounds in the video clearer before rendering simply because your machine has higher processing power whereas mine senses component limitations and sets a resolution limit so it doesn't get bogged down?

Ok, done some more research, ray tracing and a few other options don't even appear unless you've got a decent GPU.

    how to add extra lights?

  • @austinshaner

That's not as easy to do in Fusion as other applications. There are emissive textures such as LEDs that can project light. So the easiest way to get extra lighting is to model a sphere or thin surface, apply an led texture, then move it where you need and adjust its brightness settings You'll just have to be mindful not to allow that in your viewport during the render

Use perspective with ortho faces! if you need an ortho view you wouldn't want a perspective view so why the other way around? If ya learn how to use the camera in perspective only view you can check for alignment of ANY angle not just top, side, front, etc. Double check for precision with a working/ construction plane for off axis angles...Stop distorting a good perspective view with ortho it is very disorienting, unrealistic and makes the brain struggle. If ya use ortho-perspective in wireframe mode it will give you eye cancer.
