    Hi Steve, Great video. I was wondering if it is possible to have a smart object with a smart filter (camera raw filter) and crop it without messing up the camera raw filter adjustments. When I go to crop my smart object, the brush adjustments that I made in camera raw go totally out of alignment. Any suggestions without rasterizing.

    Can I save a smart object and use it as a jpg to send a smaller image to someone who will need to resize it larger? I know jpg will not allow me to access the file once it is changed and resizing will lose pixels. How would I protect the integrity of the original file for size-re-size work? Simply, can I save a smart object as that alone without changes other than size?

    For the love of God, thank you for speaking clearly, and not including any annoying music in the background. Much appreciated! Great video. Question: If I have a Mockup can I use this same method to place an image on a Jpg file?

    **newbie here** FIRST VIDEO EVER WATCHED ON THIS CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBED! Your tone, the pace in which you speak and show what to do is PRICELESS. A little insight: I want to create my own flat lays for my handmade business or maybe purchase a few scenes (which I am trying to avoid doing), I want to understand as much as I can before purchasing the Adobe Suite and I believe I have found my home channel to achieve my goals. Kindest regards to you and an abundance of gratitude!

    This is a GREAT video! Although a little over my head at the moment. I'm trying to understand this after taking a few years off. I'm trying to watermark my photos but I change the year every year on my watermark. So if I created a smart filter (or layer?), would it change all of my previously saved photos to the current year?

  • @PhotoshopEssentialsChannel

    @PhotoshopEssentialsChannel

    Hi Phea, sorry for the delay. Are you asking what happens if you place an image that's already blurry? In that case, smart objects won't be able to help, unfortunately. You could try sharpening the image, but even that probably won't help if the image was blurry to begin with. It's always best to start with an image that's sharp and in focus.

    Yep, smart objects are a really useful feature in Photoshop. Can you tell me how do you open SVG files in Photoshop? Great tutorial BTW!

  • @PhotoshopEssentialsChannel

    @PhotoshopEssentialsChannel

    If you're using Photoshop CC, you can open an SVG file just like a normal vector image. Go to File > Place Embedded and choose your SVG file to open it as a smart object and keep it as a scalable vector image. You can also just go to File > Open and choose your SVG file, but Photoshop will force you to rasterize the image before opening it. It's better to open it as a smart object. Hope that helps!

    There are no features in Photoshop that are similar to smart objects. If you are using an old version of Photoshop and you want to use smart objects, you will need to upgrade to a new version.

    Smart Objects are primitive. They don't copy reference/link but clone. It's stupid...
