When you paint the runes with the enamel wash, are you leaching some off again to get the glow? The video gives the impression there are two different shades, a darker blue and the glow?

I only had to do that on areas where I put a bit too much on - as the pigment dried it settled into the lower parts - I opted to control it by the amount on my brush, but you can absolutely soak some back up or use thinner as well to get the effect you want

Thanks for the reply, are you washing over the whole armor plate then cleaning up or just dropping it into the lines like the white oils? Sorry for the questions 😂 it's the glow stage tomorrow for mine!

It's all good! I TRIED to keep it in the lines 🤣 but inevitably I spilled a bit over the armour - once it dried I went back with Kantor Blue to tidy up. Also make sure that white oil paint is dry, and keep in mind the full effect of the pigments won't come through until they are completely dry as well!

With my army done and me focusing more on list building and tuning my army for 10th edition tourneys, my hobbying has taken a backseat. I looked at my pile of unfinished (less competitive) minis and for the first time this year, I had no drive to paint something without the incentive of wanting/ needing a unit for my army. Just want you to know this video got the creative spark going and got this exact model painted to fantastic results for me. Thanks again Painting Xoach! Love your content.

Ah citadel medium is no good for oil paint as it is aceylic based. You'll need something like odourless white spirits or sansodor (also by winsor & newton to get it properly thinned) if you check out this video where I show how to do it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKWBmZaPdbSbYps.html

Take some oul paint and thin it down - I use odourless white spirit - I cover it briefly in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKWBmZaPdbSbYps.html It's a great way to shade quickly - but if you haven't got oils you can use white acrylic paint - it may just take a little longer

Welcome to the hobby! With oil paints you'll need to thin them with something like odourless white spirits - the first part of this video covers it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKWBmZaPdbSbYps.html

Let me save you all some time: step 2 is at 14:30, the rest is just a normal painting tutorial for the rest of the mini. Don't know why that video is titled "How To Create Glowing Runes In Two Easy Steps" when it's clearly about painting the whole mini.

I think the video should be retitled. Out of 16 minutes, less than 2 (at the very end) were dedicated to applying a glowing effect... which was the reason i clicked on the video. Great paint job though. You are very skilled.
