0:00 Intro
I love working on foggy forest scenes because there is always so much you can do with them. On this shot I decided to apply some ghostly blue, dark light by editing this photo in Lightroom Classic.
0:22 1. Basic Adjustments
I started by changing the profile to Adobe Landscape. Then, I brought down the white balance to start giving the scene a soft blue color cast. The original shot is very bright (I exposed it that way on purpose, so I do have all the details in the shadows without overexposing), so I dropped the exposure quite a bit to make the shot darker. Then, I dropped the contrast for a softer look while increasing the highlights and whites to brighten up the light areas. I also brought down the clarity and dehaze to soften the look further. For stronger colors, I brought up the saturation and the vibrance
3:39 2. Masking
I used a linear gradient over the foreground to add clarity and dehaze since I want the foreground to be less foggy. Then, I used a linear gradient for the top part to bring down the blacks. This makes the trees darker without affecting the highlights.
4:48 3. Color Grading
In the hue panel, I brought down the yellow hue, then pushed the saturation of orange and yellow. For the luminance I raised red, orange and yellow. This mostly affects the foliage in the foreground. Finally, for the split toning I used a cold color for the shadows and the mid-tones

You should release a book in English, forest photography editing! There is still no Forest photography instruction guide in English, just a few great books written in German.

Haha, I dont think I'm good enough with forest photography to fill a whole book about that. For me its the hardest landscape photography niche

В конце переборщил: задний фон обрёл желтизну в деревьях. Смотрится грязновато.
