Hello, you partially answered this question but I was wondering what the pros and cons are for using your personal Apple ID for this, I don’t really want to make an entirely NEW ID for this because I think it will make things more complicated but my music email is separate from my personal Apple ID so what should I do? Does it make a difference?

You can use an Apple ID that you already have for listening to music or one that you have already had. I would actually recommend people use one that they already have for distributing their music instead of making a new one for that reason of not having any confusion.

Unfortunately it will be your old stage name on Apple Music since you released it under that name two years ago, I would claim a new profile with your new stage name and then just upload it again on your new profile. That way you can get more plays, unless you want to then delete the old profile under your previous stage name.

@@temporaryaccount6491 It has a couple of positives but to be honest, I would recommend going with DistroKid the most because it’s cheaper and there isn’t many issues that I have had with them compared to other distributors.

You have to wait until you first song is released on Apple Music (if you do not have any music on Apple Music yet) in order to claim it.

I already have a single on apple music and I followed this but whenever I tried to search my artist name or song on the apple music for artists it says no results, It's kinda disappointing cause I can see my song on Apple music already Also a BIG Thank You to you to bring this kind of videos , I know every streaming service has more or less the same process to verify the profile but by bringing this type of individual videos helps a lot ❤

@@Romanellis7 Unfortunately, KZread always does this and the distributors don’t yet have a function that allows you to connect your KZread channel BUT there is a way to connect your KZread channel to KZread Music which will allow you to distribute your songs on there whenever you release a song. It just depends on the distributor that you sign up to. Most of them charge a yearly/monthly membership or a per upload fee. After you sign up to a distributor, then you upload your music and set it for a release date. The distributor will then distribute your music on the date that you chose and create the profiles for you. You then claim them and there you go.

How long does it take for them to approve your claim? Spotify went though almost immediately, Apple is taking a few days already

IF you have never released music before on any mainstream platform then you will have to upload a song(s) through your distributor (DistroKid) so they can create the account for you and then you can claim it and you are set. I have other videos explaining how to claim your profiles once the distributor has created the accounts for you. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately you have to go through a distributor of some kind in order to upload a song to Apple Music. You can choose to just upload your music to Apple only through a distributor though.

If you already have an Apple ID for personal use, would you just use that for the artist profile or would it be better to create a separate music dedicated Apple ID? Also, how do you go about creating a second artist profile under the same account? For example, John Smith releases pop music but he also wants to release copyright-free albums under FreeMusic by John Smith? Thank you

You can use any Apple ID that you prefer, it’s really just your preference as long as you remember it. And as far as the 2nd profile under the same account, unfortunately you cannot you would have to release it under the same account or just make a separate account if you want to release music under a different profile. I would highly recommend just releasing the music under the same account (especially if you are using the same artist name) instead of creating a different one because your fans will get confused.

SoundCloud is not a distribution platform, it’s a solo independent platform so yes you need a distribution platform like DistroKid, UnitedMasters, TuneCore, etc.

Your personal account won’t be used for your artist account. The way it works is you sign up for a distributor and the create the account for you after you upload your first song for a release. Then after that, you claim your apple Artist account.

You’re going to need to contact Apple Music support to tell them that your song is on the wrong profile and you want it on your profile. Here’s the link: artists.apple.com/support/ The distributor you uploaded your song on should’ve created this profile for you (I.e. DistroKid, TuneCore, CDBaby, etc.) Also, I would recommend changing your name or adding something more original to it like spelling it different to avoid this form happening again.

So your music has to already be out or will it let me find my music like a week before release? I'm using Distrokid btw

I would wait the 1-2 weeks until the song is released so you can then update everything on that profile that it releases under because Apple is quirky when trying to create a profile without any songs on that artist profile.

It depends on which distributor you plan on using. Some distributors accept MP3’s and WAV files as the audio you can upload to use their service. I highly recommend using DistroKid because they are easier to work with and provide more features.

It’s the same process like the video but you have to create an Apple ID first and then your profile. Also, download the app on your phone to make changes as you need to because the app is more efficient for Apple Music. Keep in mind too that you’re going to have to claim your profile on Apple Music before you use a distribution service to release your music otherwise you will have 2 profiles after your first release.

@@Chrisreymusic I always recommend waiting at least 3-5 business days after your song is released and with your case it would be after today since you released 2 songs within 5 days. Then your account should pop up.

I released my first song and it posted to another artists page with the same name as me. However, when I was uploading the song using tunecore I selected create Apple Music and Spotify page for me. How do I resolve that?

Contact Apple Music support, because most likely it’s an AI issue with them. Also, I would take into consideration maybe creating a more unique name, spelling it differently or adding another name to it so that it doesn’t happen again. This happens quite often with Apple Music, unfortunately.

There is no option for me to request for artist profile. How do I go about that please!?

Hello, you need to first sign up for a distributor like DistroKid, Tunecore, UnitedMasters, etc. in order to release your music. Once you sign up to a distributor then they will create the profiles for you and you then claim those profiles on each platform.

hey my song got released in apple music but instead of creating a new one it connected to some other artist with the same name. Now I wanna gain access to it so what should I do. My music was also linked to the wrong profile on spotify but their support made me a new one and connected to it. Now what can I do for apple music? Please do help.

Correct. You have to pick a distributor to release your music first for you and then your name will pop up. You can create an artist profile first through Apple Music or Spotify, etc. first but if you have no music released yet, the platform may not recognize your profile yet. If you have already created an artist profile first without releasing any music you can always claim your profile after you release your music.

I released my song with UnitedMasters but when I try to search my name in request artist access my name doesn’t show does it take a while because it’s your very first song?

Once your first song releases, then your profile will be made and you can search for your profile to claim it.

Hey! Do i have to wait fro my song to be released to request access to my account? I uploaded my song to distrokid about a week ago and it will come out wednesday. I wanted to set up all my profiles before, but everytime i use the URL link from distrolink in the reqiest access page, my account doesn't show up.

Yes, you have to wait until your release date if it’s your first song or songs you are releasing through a distributor.

I would suggest spelling it different or adding something to your name to make it unique. Plus, you don’t want ppl to have trouble finding you when searching.

It takes up to 48 hours for Apple Music to approve your artist image.
