To new viewers: if Photoshop isn't letting you rotate the lighting (4:45) it's because recent versions are removing 3D effects :( BUT I just installed Version 22.2 of Photoshop and it worked!
Thank you very much!!! To new viewers: If you cannot clikc on "Filter Gallery", change your 32 or 16 bit channel to 8 bit channel. You can do this Menu > Image > Mode. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Excellent and thorough tutorial that takes the basic foil making process up a notch. I didn't know about editable filters, and had been wondering if it was possible. The advance skills you teach will help improve my work greatly. Thank you!
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!

I'm glad it helped. More tutorials on the way
Thank you so much!
Thanks for tutorial
I'm wondering if you might be able to share your final file? Photoshop got rid of the lighting effects filter in one of the latest updates. I can't even find a place to download on older vision that still has the effects. This is such a great tutorial - thanks.

having the same issue. Can't figure out what I am doing wrong =/
I am unable to get this edit option. When I go on lights filter it directly takes a point and doesn't allow me to edit like this. How to do that ?

Unfortunately Adobe is now removing 3D features from Photoshop. So the lighting features have also been removed. You can check the pinned comment above for a possible alternative solution.
I have no options to move or adjust the light. 😕

I just went back to check because of your comment and realized I have the same problem now lol. Are you using the latest version of Photoshop? I am. The closest to a solution I've found is to click View > Show > All It hasn't worked for me though. I strongly suspect it's a bug. So far I haven't found a solution but will let you know if I find anything.

3D effects are being discontinued and will be soon removed from Photoshop so they are already not working properly. Filter > Render > Lighting Effects is one of them. Once you open it, a "More info" message shows up.

Go to Edit>Preferences>Technology Previews and check the box in front of "Deactivate Native Canvas". Make sure to save your work and restart Photoshop.
Can it be printed?

No. Not directly. This is only a display simulation of the real thing for use as a mockup. The gold foil is usually applied by the printer. You can see and example here: www.vistaprint.com/business-cards/metallic and here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rHamltmFedngdaw.html
