I’m just getting back into teaching after an 18 year break!! During that time I was a Children’s Pastor for 5 years and a foster parent for 12 years. I’ve been subbing for the past year and absolutely loving it!! I discovered you during the 2020-2021 school year when my kids were doing online school and I was trying to help one of their teachers with her Google Site. I have found all of your videos, especially your tutorials, SO helpful!! I didn’t even own my own computer when I last taught let alone be using one daily in teaching!! Now I feel so comfortable going into any classroom and being able to use all kinds of digital resources in the classroom!! I’ve even been able to share my learning and pass on ideas that I’ve learned from you to new and veteran teachers alike!! I find that a lot of elementary teachers are still intimidated about using technology and digital resources in the classroom. I love to share your KZread channel and TPT store (as well as your podcast with Bridget) as a good place to start!! Thank you for the wonderful gift of knowledge that you are sharing with teachers!! 💜 I was intimidated by creating anchor charts with students because it wasn’t something that I learned about or used “back in the day”!! Now I’m excited to make one!! I’m looking forward to your upcoming videos in this series!!

I also returned to the classroom after 18 years (5 years ago). There were no computers in the classroom when I left teaching years ago. Everything I needed to know about Google applications & using technology in the classroom I learned from Michelle. I also happen to live in Austin and am happy to have her here!

I love this! To avoid reformatting during class I would probably fill it out (except the math on the right side) and put white boxes over the answers. Then I would animate the boxes so that they disappear when I click them. This way students give answers and I reveal it on the screen. Just saves a little time and reformatting! But I love doing it live also. Catch 22.

As always, Michelle, your tutorials offer so much! I’ve always valued everything I’ve purchased from you, and if I were still in upper elementary, I’d be devouring this product, too, but I am teaching first grade now. Is there any chance you might do something similar for the Littles?

Thanks for the awesome video! I'm a 4th grade teacher and I wanted to use this for an anchor chart on fractions. It seems that google slides doesn't let you insert fractions as equations like google docs does. Do you have a suggestion for this? Love your videos!! Thanks!!

Thank you for this video. I liked how you were able to attach the picture to the side of the Google slide. I had no idea you could add anything there. Here’s a question I have. What would be the difference between doing this digital chart on Google slide vs. Google doc? Do you recommend doing the charts like these on Google slide instead of Google Doc? What would be some differences or benefits of both. Thanks again for sharing. Like always, I always learn something new.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting Nellie! 🖤 Google Slides works more as a "blank canvas" that allows you to move images, shapes, and text boxes anywhere you want. With Google Docs, you're more limited with where you can place images, shapes, and text due to the formatting in place. Hopefully that helps!

If you’re doing this in real time with students, I suggest having the equations typed with correct sizing and color beforehand. Then create four rectangles and fill them with a color. Then cover the each equation with a rectangle and you can move or delete them one at a time while you’re doing the example.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting Jake! 🖤 I don't plan on doing Vlogmas again... partially because I didn't get as many views with those videos last year (which is understandable because people are busy around the holidays) and partially because it took an INCREDIBLE amount of time so I didn't get to personally enjoy the holidays with my friends and family as much and that sacrifice isn't worth it to me.

Great question Nicole! My favorite way to make fractions in Google Slides is using a table. Insert a table with 2 rows and one column. You can make all the borders transparent except for the border between the top and bottom row. Hopefully that helps!

Thank you for watching and commenting Monica! My favorite way to make fractions in Google Slides is using a table. Insert a table with 2 rows and one column. You can make all the borders transparent except for the border between the top and bottom row. As for exponents, you can format the exponent text as a superset which makes it smaller at the top. Hopefully that helps!

I understand what you are doing but it looks very time consuming. Why not make the entire chart ahead of time and use white to hide it. The students will still feel as if though you are creating it on the spot.
