    @@joynedyalkova2322 Hi Joy. I'm a 62 year male and I am following the Carnivore way of eating, virtually zero carbs. I workout in my home 3 times a week doing pushups, and the following exercises using dumbbells: biceps curls, triceps presses, shoulder lateral raises. I log every workout in a spreadsheet so that I can track my progress. I am definitely getting stronger because I can see the progression in the number of reps and the resistance weight. Also, I basically only eat one meal a day, in the middle of the day. My meal consists of beef, fish, eggs, oysters. So, I am living proof that you can build muscle and strength while still losing fat.

    @@patrickh709 - Dr. Ekberg has always been a proponent of Fasting to lose weight. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mI6czaiIc8jAfbQ.html is just one example. A Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting go together. Most of the Benefits of a Ketogenic Diet, whether it be an Omnivore, Carnivore, or Vegan version, are actually Realized by NOT Eating. By limiting the spikes of Blood Sugar and Insulin when Eating, a Ketogenic Diet makes your FASTING more effective. The Ketogenic Diet allows you to Fast longer. It not only reduces Insulin Resistance, it also reduces Leptin Resistance. Leptin is the Hormone that controls Satiety, the feeling of Fullness. Obese people have high Insulin Resistance AND high Leptin Resistance. As a result, they ALWAYS feel Hungry. As Leptin Resistance is reduced, you can Fast longer, before you feel Hungry again.

    My personal approach... I do not track macros. Only carbs. Some people call it "lazy keto," but I am not doing it out of laziness. If this is a long term / forever diet then I have to be able to rely on my instincts. That means no counting anything but carbs. Plus, like you said the fat "allowance" is really the ceiling. And for many people even the protein allowance is the ceiling. When I am my best self I am eating whole foods and making my own foods and it is easy to keep carbs very low. I do have a weakness when it comes to keto sweet treats. Even though they don't have sugar, they do trigger me and I have had a couple keto binges. I am currently pretty good at avoiding foods that trigger me, but that possibility is probably going to be there forever. When I am being my best self I feel healthier than I ever remember feeling. I am still losing weight (more slowly now) and am close enough to my goal that I am not obsessed with the weight. When I am not being my best self I feel a bit more mediocre I stall on weight loss. Surely there is a lesson in there for me I also count net carbs when eating whole food. the problem people have with net carbs comes when they eat a keto candy bar that has 22 g carbs and 20 g of added fiber and they think they are eating 2 net carbs. That is a bit of food label trickery. I saw something once that had over 40g of total carbs but 2 net. That was because of allulous... which I do understand. But it concerns me.

  • @drekberg

    @drekberg

    Thank you Olivia. That's going to work great for most people. Very few people would ever need to count protein. It usually takes care of itself when you limit carbs and eat real food.😄

    I’m doing net carbs as I need a lifestyle that I can follow for the rest of my life. I’ve done enough very strict short term diet fixes that didn’t fix anything long term. I love veggies and don’t think I could limit them to the extent that say 20g total carbs would require. I know carnivores can be healthy but I don’t want to just eat fatty meat. I still want to enjoy my food and not look at food just as something I have to do to make my body survive

    Very educational as always doc, what i love the most about your content is you being very unbiased and giving multiple options to check which one suits the individual best based on his metabolic health, other channels are too pro keto or too carnivore these days without taking individuals metabllic health in consideration and i hate them for that!

    Thank you / thank you Dr. Ekberg!! Your videos have helped me beat pre-diabetes; I've lost 40 lbs, my blood pressure is now normal without any meds, and my A1c is perfectly in range now! I'm amazed, grateful 😂 and cannot say thank-you enough! I'm so happy😊 I'm helping my body become it's best. I'm 70 yrs, and your information has completely changed my life 😅 for the better. You are a very, very good person to work so hard for others. I'm very grateful for your work😊 It feels like a miracle to me. I experienced (for the first time in my life) satiety so strong ... that I could not finish a plate of food. It's surreal ... that's never happened to me before. Thank you / thank you God bless you

    Dr. Sten you're so good at explaining the difficult parts of nutrition and physiology it's amazing! I really like your videos. Much appreciated, I've followed many of your advice amongst others, of course, and lost 96lbs (43kg) in 26 weeks with keto and intermittent fasting. I do also practice OMAD after 3 months and I think that is a thing that works right for me and again, thank you for a very good channel!

    Thank you so much for all of your time, energy and knowledge that you put into making these videos. I know conventional doctors definitely have their place, but the vast majority of people cannot come close to receiving this level of caring, helpful and practical information from the conventional system - and that very system is so often preventing their healing and even making their situations worse. You are doing amazing things for people and I’m really appreciative. You are a great man, thank you so much.

    Dr. Ekberg, you are an absolute gem and wealth of information! I have been watching your videos for a long time now. Considering our current coronavirus and long haul symptoms that seem to be autonomic nervous system related (POTS type) and your comment about the majority of our immune system coming from the gut, I was wondering if you could do a video on how to maximize our ANS function. I wonder if that would be helpful in decreasing some of the long haul symptoms.

    Hello Dr. Sten Ekberg, I am a 5'4" female who weighed 138 lbs all of summer 2020 despite running for 1 hour everyday. Only after watching your videos and following 2 mad and omad I have been able to lower it down to 133 lbs and have been able to maintain it for a month now. So very thankful to you. My struggle is that I am a vegetarian who eats dairy but no meat and no eggs, what is the best way to stay satiated without having carbs? I have no sugar cravings and no carb cravings, but don't know how to feel satiated just by having veggies and dairy.

    Thank you Adam Maxwell for being a member and good job on taking charge and learning to control your IR. Too many type 1's eat according to the guidelines and take insulin in proportion and become IR. Type 1 is no different. Less insulin is still better even when you have to administer it from the outside.😄
