@@joynedyalkova2322 Hi Joy. I'm a 62 year male and I am following the Carnivore way of eating, virtually zero carbs. I workout in my home 3 times a week doing pushups, and the following exercises using dumbbells: biceps curls, triceps presses, shoulder lateral raises. I log every workout in a spreadsheet so that I can track my progress. I am definitely getting stronger because I can see the progression in the number of reps and the resistance weight. Also, I basically only eat one meal a day, in the middle of the day. My meal consists of beef, fish, eggs, oysters. So, I am living proof that you can build muscle and strength while still losing fat.

Hi Doc, since starting fasting 5.5 weeks ago I have lost 13kg. I am 64 years old, on no medication. Work 12 hours days in the Mines on a 2/1 shift. I started by listening to Dr Fung and listen to your analogy on what foods to eat when I end my fasts. I have been fasting between every meal. Thank you so much. Not eating foods that spike insulin has made a big difference. Your the Man!

@@patrickh709 - Dr. Ekberg has always been a proponent of Fasting to lose weight. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mI6czaiIc8jAfbQ.html is just one example. A Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting go together. Most of the Benefits of a Ketogenic Diet, whether it be an Omnivore, Carnivore, or Vegan version, are actually Realized by NOT Eating. By limiting the spikes of Blood Sugar and Insulin when Eating, a Ketogenic Diet makes your FASTING more effective. The Ketogenic Diet allows you to Fast longer. It not only reduces Insulin Resistance, it also reduces Leptin Resistance. Leptin is the Hormone that controls Satiety, the feeling of Fullness. Obese people have high Insulin Resistance AND high Leptin Resistance. As a result, they ALWAYS feel Hungry. As Leptin Resistance is reduced, you can Fast longer, before you feel Hungry again.

It has not been quick process, I am far from where I want my body to be, but it took me years to break my metabolic system and I need to give it time to heal. I came across your channel recently and I love your content and delivery! I’ve been IF for nearly 2 years and have just recently added low carb. You help me stay focused and explain the “why” so well! Thank you for doing what you do.
I watched this twice and will watch again, so I can get all of the points wrapped around my brain. It's a process and the carb counting was anxiety provoking before finding this video. Thank you Dr Ekberg for making things Clear and Simple. Bless You!
Dr. Ekberg- your lessons are amazing! I'm trying to get everyone I know to listen to your solid advise. I stumbled on low carb eating by accident when my A1c was high. Determined to not go the insulin route- I took charge of my heath, and now I'm a regular advocate to stop the Diabetes 2 nightmare for whomever will listen! Thank you so much for your invaluable contributions, I wish you much health, success and wealth.
My personal approach... I do not track macros. Only carbs. Some people call it "lazy keto," but I am not doing it out of laziness. If this is a long term / forever diet then I have to be able to rely on my instincts. That means no counting anything but carbs. Plus, like you said the fat "allowance" is really the ceiling. And for many people even the protein allowance is the ceiling. When I am my best self I am eating whole foods and making my own foods and it is easy to keep carbs very low. I do have a weakness when it comes to keto sweet treats. Even though they don't have sugar, they do trigger me and I have had a couple keto binges. I am currently pretty good at avoiding foods that trigger me, but that possibility is probably going to be there forever. When I am being my best self I feel healthier than I ever remember feeling. I am still losing weight (more slowly now) and am close enough to my goal that I am not obsessed with the weight. When I am not being my best self I feel a bit more mediocre I stall on weight loss. Surely there is a lesson in there for me I also count net carbs when eating whole food. the problem people have with net carbs comes when they eat a keto candy bar that has 22 g carbs and 20 g of added fiber and they think they are eating 2 net carbs. That is a bit of food label trickery. I saw something once that had over 40g of total carbs but 2 net. That was because of allulous... which I do understand. But it concerns me.
@drekberg
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Olivia. That's going to work great for most people. Very few people would ever need to count protein. It usually takes care of itself when you limit carbs and eat real food.😄
I have been in the process of Low carb, keto, intermittent fasting for about 10 months. As part of this getting healthy process I find that I’m eating less, not buying junk foods, and I have more to spend on higher quality foods. Satiated in my meals as well as in my body and brain.
The best explanation I have ever heard re this confusion. Thank you so much. I am a carnivore with a maximum carb daily of 10g or less and nil sugar. Your video really helps in the true calculation of carbs and fibre. Always look forward to your awesome videos.
I’m doing net carbs as I need a lifestyle that I can follow for the rest of my life. I’ve done enough very strict short term diet fixes that didn’t fix anything long term. I love veggies and don’t think I could limit them to the extent that say 20g total carbs would require. I know carnivores can be healthy but I don’t want to just eat fatty meat. I still want to enjoy my food and not look at food just as something I have to do to make my body survive
@drekberg
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Christa Wild. Exactly. Short term interventions don't fix long term problems. You could still fit a lot. A LOT of non-starchy vegetables into 20 net grams.😄

Hello Dr. Sten Ekberg, I am a 5'4" female who weighed 138 lbs all of summer 2020 despite running for 1 hour everyday. Only after watching your videos and following 2 mad and omad I have been able to lower it down to 133 lbs and have been able to maintain it for a month now. So very thankful to you. My struggle is that I am a vegetarian who eats dairy but no meat and no eggs, what is the best way to stay satiated without having carbs? I have no sugar cravings and no carb cravings, but don't know how to feel satiated just by having veggies and dairy.
This should be one of the first to watch video to make the very confusing part clear about Keto! Thank you Dr.Sten Ekberg for your time and all the effort.

Thank you so much Dr Ekberg I am a type 1 brittle diabetic and I have been following you for a few months and I still am very insulin resistant not sure if I'm doing things right but the videos you post give me a pretty good clarity on what I am trying to do?

Thank you Adam Maxwell for being a member and good job on taking charge and learning to control your IR. Too many type 1's eat according to the guidelines and take insulin in proportion and become IR. Type 1 is no different. Less insulin is still better even when you have to administer it from the outside.😄
You are our favorite doctor. Thank you! Be well!💞💃🏻🕴
I do 5/25/70 along with weight training. It seems to be working well for me and it really straightened out my A1C. I went from an A1C of >10 to 5.5 in about 90 days.
Thank you. You are brilliant.

Great video as always!!
Hi Dr. Sten. Thank you for breaking down very simple to digest. I have to fast alternate days, and I must go from 5 to a zero carb to lose weight or my glucose level will go to 70-80 So. I think this method works for me, and stay with it.
Excellent thanks.
The best explanation on here!!
Easy to understand. Thankyou

I’m eating 17 net carbs a day and also 16:8. Lost 14 lbs. in 13 days and so happy. Ty for the info!
Another awesome video Doctor Ekberg. I seem to have a natural two week swing between carnivore and then more ketogenic. I love the ability to change easily between them.

I do same but with electrolytes. It really helps to push my fasting longer.
