When i have my lifejacket lower like you suggest, I have trouble giving a lot of edge. The PFD hits the cockpit not letting me go futher. So ive been using it up high. Whats the problem with using it like this?

I find it impedes my movement when higher up. Maybe your body shape is different to mine. But I like it low as possible because it keeps it out of the way for rolling, maximum body rotation and freestyle manoeuvres.

His often do you replace your PFD ? And do you think it’s necessary to replace them that often?

carl smith good question, I would say it depends a lot based on use, location, travel etc. I would say minimum every three years. More frequently if you have flown with it because that definitely makes a difference. Yea I do think it’s important, you’ll see the difference if you swim Around an eddy with an older life jacket vs a new one (assuming like for like life jacket). It’s not just to help you but to help the people rescuing you!

Do you find the dangling straps problematic? I recently got the Hustle, but was surprised to see there wasn't any velcro or loops to handle excess strap ends. Seems like even a lot of lower-tier PFDs these days have options to keep loose straps out of your way both for safety and comfort.

Nathan I haven’t had a problem at all the bottom strap does touch the spraydeck but I’m not worried about them in terms of safety etc.
