How to Correct Your Ford F250/350 Superduty display MPG *Lie-O-Meter *For an Accurate MPG Readout*!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Just like my Ram 2500, my F250 has the similar problem of a lie-o-meter. I was just fed up with the truck telling me how much better it was doing on fuel economy compared to hand calculations. In the video, I show you how to reprogram through the engineering test mode (ETM) to accurately tell you what MPG you are truly getting! Follow my IG page @motor_head18 and support my channel by liking the video and subscribing to MOTOR HEAD!

Thanks for the info! I'm always showing ~0.5mpg high in my '19 F-450. I watched this and several other videos, but was still having trouble getting into Engineering Test Mode. What finally worked for me was getting into the truck, CLOSING THE DOOR, hitting the lock on my key fob, waiting for everything to shut off, then following your procedure. When the door was open, it kicked the "Driver's Door Open" alarm on the screen and never went into test mode. Don't know if I'm the only knucklehead that had this problem, but you may want to pin a comment telling guys to make sure all the doors are closed. Might help someone having the same issue I did. Thanks again!

I guess I am assuming that you are dividing your Pump Receipt (Real World) vs Trip Meter (Computer), or are you using the Fuel Economy Average as the computer? I just did my first test and my Trip meter showed 18.1 mpg while the Pump Receipt calced at 15.92 mpg for those miles. But then looking at my Fuel Economy tab, it shows overall 15.6 avg mpg. So my all around continued average is 15.6 which is closer to what the pump receipt calced at. So if I do 5 or 6 fill ups and lower my AFE bias to match the trip to the pump, wont that then lower my Fuel Economy average also (which is a bit lower than the pump calc at this first shot)? So I am just a bit confused with the Trip vs Fuel Econ tabs with different averages. I guess I have some fuel to burn before I see what I come up with. If you even see this comment, thanks in advance for your clarification.

@@MotorHead18 I found out how to get into the program mode. It’s the “down” arrow not the “ok”in my truck though scrolling through I cannot find the AFE to change it. Could it be aftermarket programming seeing I’m deleted or does the above sequencing bring it up 2015 F350 diesel. Will give the above sequencing a try to see if AFE is shown. Thank you. Rick

Would this affect distance miles to empty? Just bought a new 22 f350 tremor. Changed wheels and tires from 18” to 22” and also installed 60 gallon S&B fuel tank. I drove 1100 miles and noticed my mpg is off by 1.3mpg and my distance to empty is off too saying I have more miles to empty than I really do. Any suggestions here?

  • @MotorHead18

Towing really throws off the computerized mpg. How off is the mpg compared to hand calculated empty driving? And forscan will be required to fix your miles to empty to compensate for larger fuel tank.

@@MotorHead18 fill the tank, set the trip. When I fill up again i take the miles driven and divided it by the gallons pumped. I have also check the miles to empty with Google maps and it's within single digits. I absolutely baby the truck. I only seen the boost go above 5psi once in the last 3 weeks. Hard throttling will make it hard to calculate exactly how long the fuel will last. Computer takes timed snapshot and average fuel consumption together. Consistent driving habbits will make your computer accurate 👌
