    Bought this 3 months ago. So far its still good and works great. My only complaint was clipping/mounting the metal clips onto the AM4 bracket. That took me a long ass time and kept moving out of place. Might have to redo it again to reapply the thermal paste as i kept moving the block on/off while trying to attach it which could of created some air bubbles. In 90F weather i get around 70-72C while gaming, video encoding around 70-75C with spikes hitting 78C. My AIO is set as an exhaust.

    They are fan headers for different types of fans (different purposes) CPU_FAN - This header is for the main/only CPU/heatsink fan, the BIOS will (or at least should) refuse to let the system boot if a fan is not detected, preventing the CPU from overheating and damaging itself CPU_OPT - This header serves the same purpose as CPU_FAN, the only difference is not having a fan connected to this header will not prevent the system from booting, some heatsinks may come with two fans, or may have clips on both sides where a second fan can be connected for a “push-pull” configuration (one fan pushes cool air into the fins, another fan pulls hot air out), it can also be used in liquid cooling where the pump is connected to the fan header, the pump would connect to CPU_FAN and the radiator fans would connect to CPU_OPT, the idea is as long as the pump can keep the liquid flowing, even if the fans were disconnected or failed, some cooling can still be achieved, if the pump was disconnected or failed, the liquid would remain stagnant and the hot liquid would not make it’s way to the radiator to be cooled, as well as the cool liquid would remain in the radiator and can’t make it’s way to the CPU to serve it’s purpose, therefore not cooling the CPU, even if the fans were sill running properly, CPU_OPT can warn you if there’s a problem, but it won’t shut down the system or prevent booting like CPU_FAN will when it detects a problem SYS_FAN - This is for a case fan or “overall system” fan, this brings fresh air into the case or blows warm stagnant air out of the case, keeping airflow Just like CPU_OPT, not having a fan connected to the SYS_FAN header will not prevent the system from booting, but it can warn you if there is a problem with the fan If these are 4 pin fan headers, the motherboard, and in turn the BIOS and the OS, can control the speed of the fans, so in theory, you could connect the case fan (or one of the case fans) to CPU_OPT with no issue, but a case fan connected to the CPU_OPT header will ramp up in speed when the CPU gets hot just like the CPU/heatsink fan connected to the CPU_FAN header will, and will slow down when the CPU is adequately cooled, while the fan connected to the SYS_FAN header will run independently to CPU temps, either taking its cue from a different thermal sensor or by some software based control based on the BIOS and/or the OS (and on the OS side, either the OS or some third party software)

    Make sure to connect cooler pump and cooler fans only to the CPU _FAN (boot verifies device working before start for cpu protection safety) or CPU_OPT headers because those are speed controlled by the motherboard only going max only if heavy useage then it will be louder. Many people only hook to fan power output for for system or chassis headers which are 100% PWM powered at all time unless changed in BIOS which makes it loud running max all the time when it does not need to 99% of the time.

    This video is a great tutorial and does a great job at answering the most common questions, but I really want to emphasize the importance of the orientation of your AIO. Front mounting the AIO is perfectly fine, but MAKE SURE THE RADIATOR IS AT THE HIGHEST POINT ABOVE THE PUMP AND THAT THE TUBES ARE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR. Almost every front mounted AIO that I've seen in advertisements has the tubes on the top of the radiator above the pump. If you do this, air bubbles will form and transfer to the pump, which will increase temperatures and create excessive noise. If you cannot put the tubes on the bottom because it's being blocked by a PSU shroud, mount the AIO on the top of the case.

  • @davejohn255

    @davejohn255

    as long as the top of the radiator is above the height of the CPU pump, it doesn't matter if the tubes are on top or on the bottom, the air bubbles still gather at the top of the radiator. the moment you mount the aio where the top of the radiator is lower than the height of the CPU pump, then it is bad.

    Yes, if you’re motherboard only includes 2 cpu_fan and no cpu_opt then plug a fan header into one of them and plug the fans into that, and plug the pump into the other

    I recently installed this cooler and used your steps in my install. Everything is working like a marvel with one exception. I have a b450 tomahawk max and went the same way you preferred. Installed the rgb splitter to one of the rgb ports, specifically the one that says jrgb2 and connected the fans and pump rgb to the splitter. The RGB is not turning on. The pump works, the fans spin and i can control them so I know that's connected properly but the RGB won't work. I tried with both dragon center and mystic light software to no avail. Any suggestions as to what i could be doing wrong?

    So basically the 3 cables with the prongs plug into the RGB cables on the fans/pump and the single cable plugs into the controller or an rgb header on your motherboard. That splitter comes included with this AIO.
