I had the same issues years ago with the neighbors so I have 2 HPI Baja's one is electric with an old Castle XLX2 setup. Still not use to that spark when I connect the batteries😂

Hi, great video. What spec lipos are you using for this? I'm converting nine to electric using the max 5 combo and have no idea which lipos to get

Thanks.. I went with x2 Gens Ace (Basher) 4s 8000mah 4s2p 100c and they fit perfect. Plenty of run time too. Here's the link to the ones I bought. Coolly did everything, but why was it necessary to make non-removable batteries, in the event of a fire or to replace them and continue to roll it will be a whole problem. And why would you put wheels from a monster on the short corse? There are a bunch of cool wheels just for shorts.

Thank you and I appreciate your thoughts.. The batteries popped out on me with using just velcro on the stock chassis. That's why I secure them now. And trust me I don't care if you have a battery tray or not but in the event one of those batts goes up in flames you are not touching them. That's the risk of having lipos in and rc car.. As far as the wheels from a 1/5 4x4.. I was just testing them to see how they would work cause it's really not practical. I'm going back to the proline trenchers and activating AVC to see how it handles. I'm going to guess very well if you watch my current videos on all the other upgrades I've done to this beast. Thanks for the reply! So exactly what all did you have to purchase outside of the kit to get it operational? I assumed the kit came with everything you needed to convert. I recently just purchased the kit but haven’t received it yet.

Great Job NWI RC. I have the original HPI Baja 5b, was yours a 5b, 5bss or 5t, will this setup work for mine?

Mine is the 5t and yes this conversion will work on you 5b.. This weekend we're going to install the Scorpion light weight chassis, Modified RC rear plate and 57/18 gears.. I tested it with a 16t and it's insane lol.. That's why I'm going with a 18t..

One last question. Is it any reason you can’t use the gearing that’s originally on the vehicle from when it was gasoline?

The pinions are a completely different design from gas to electric. The spurs will work without any issues.

How does this hold up 1 year later? I have a similar problem and want to buy a brushless due to noise... but seeing this might be my answer? Compared to traxxas x maxx or arrma krayton how does it compare

I love this, keep coming back to this video. I just can't bring myself to pull the motor out mine yet 😢 I've since bought 2x 1/8th buggys and made them brushless..... Might have to start looking for a Baja Roller or Spares/repairs job and convert that 😊

Thank you.. I don't keep up with the costs cause it's not cheap but you can check out the links if you want.. We have another video we're going to do this weekend with more upgrades that you don't want to miss.. We plan on filming this weekend and will publish in a couple of weeks.. Waiting for the land to dry before we do test runs and more.. Thanks again and stay tuned..

@@ronotardo Yes I do have the programmer and not sure if you can program right off the the esc.. I'm pretty sure you can but the options could be limited.. I will find out and will add this topic in the next upgrade video.. Looks like the seller revised his listing from when I purchased, but it came with a 14t pinion (not available now) which is way to small.. You'll see in my next video that I bought a set of pinions.. (BTW these pinions are a MOD 1.5 8mm bore which is way diff from the gas motors).. I used a 57/16t that was to low but currently going to test a 57/18 and see how it goes in the test video.. If that doesn't work I'll have to drop to a 56/19 or even better a 54/20 if motor/esc temps allows me.. Hope this helps..

does this brushless mount convertion can support the Ezrun MAX4 Combo motor??

No it only came with a 14t pinion which is way to small.

My friend had one of those and he would race it around the block but then one day some guy came and told him to shut that thing up or there was going to be problems he didn't believe him so he just kept playing and the guy came back with a GUN and Shot him good thing I wasn't next to him at the time. He didn't die but still that's just insane what people will do these days

Wow that's crazy.. This one was crazy loud and would only run it in my area just for tuning then had to drive a few miles away to have fun with it. Now nobody can bitch about the noise.

Those shock reservoirs was discontinued for years and I bought the soldering station from Amazon about 5 years ago. I'm sure you can find very similar ones with a quick search.

I installed a 14t and was way to low.. The 16t was better but just wanted to wheelie.. Currently I have a 18t installed and will get a video out on it soon.

@@nwirc castle mmx8s and the 1250kv spectrum..its what I had laying around i just had to drill and tap new holes on the motor plate...but I recently pulled the castle mmx8s from it and put a max5, the castle mmx8s went into my infraction
