Thanks for a great explanation, Terry. I changed out an old fan and installed a new fan and Universal remote. I have a two switch control on the wall. It didn't work, so after rechecking everything, I found your video. I eliminated the wall light switch and also found I needed to use the red power wire feed at the receiver instead of the black wire. Works perfectly now.

Really, great video! It was just the information and illustration I was seeking when installing my new ceiling fan with remote and when confronted with red, black, and white wires at ceiling and separate wall switches to control light and fan separately. It was a great help.

I was having some problems installing my new light/fan combo with getting all the wires and wireless receiver into the canopy. I would have never thought to tuck the wireless receiver into the fan mount like that, thanks for the video.

Not that it matters but Id like to mention to folks that they also make remote control kits that have the fan speed functions built into the remote, so you don't need the pull cord on the fan to change the fan speeds. Just trying to make this option known for people that may want this! Very helpful vid Terry!

Thank you for such excellent video. Thanks to you, I was able to instal my ceiling fan w/remote. QUESTION: The existing on/off switch from the wall no longer controls the fan/light. Is it possible to make both (remote/wall) work? I mean, if I was to misplace the remote, how do I make it work without it?

The fan remote that I installed in my previous house, had light dimming and adjustable fan speed. I wouldn't bother with a remote that didn't have both of those functions. Great video, very detailed.
