    Just to clarify, there are number of ways to control a linear actuator. Including L298N and other h bridge chips. However there are current limit. With this method your current is only limited to what ever power these relay is rated for. I had L298N for a solar panel and it drove it well for a panel weighted 20lb. When I expanded to 8 panel the actuator was rated upto 300lb but L298N was struggling with 12V at 3Amps.

    Awesome video! I have everything wired correctly but for some reason I can't get the actuator to move. I see my lights on the relays go from on to off when the specific button is pushed but nothing happens. Are there any common troubleshooting steps that I can take?

  • @robojax

    @robojax

    Жыл бұрын

    if the light on the relay turns ON/OFF AND relay clicks, then wiring for the actuator has issue. when I said relay CLICKS, i mean you could hear it. if not then the voltage required to turn ON the relay is not enough or strong. so first make sure the relay clicks with ON and with OFF. then check the wires that goes to the motor.

    you have to record the time for certain action and when button is pressed, keep it running for that amount of time so you know it has reached to certain point. This will work only if your power is always stable as the amount of power will speed up or slow down the motor. you can do it in advanced way to have sensors to detect exact position and turn it ON or off. which needs separate tutorial and code.

    not sure where I missed how many power supplies used. Is it 12v for relay and 5v for arduino. If this is yes, then the AMPs needed for actuators come from battery and wont trouble Arduino. Also I want to know if BTS7960 is required or not.

  • @robojax

    @robojax

    Arduino needs and works with 5V and 12V. I used 5V but if you use the power adapter connector of Arduino, you can connect 12V or use IN pin you can use 12V. then we have power for actuator. If you used 12V for Arduino, then you can use both from the same source. If you are using Arduino nano, micro or some version that does not have 12V input, then use only 5V for Arduino and use 12V or whatever voltage your actuator requires.

    It won’t be safe because you won’t system won’t know if it has reached to the end? You need limiter or something that tells you it has reached to the end . You can do it with time but it will not be accurate as change in voltage will cause the motor yo slow down or speed up. But you can put delay to keep it running to certain time and then stop .
