Though one thing in the last part of the letter also indicate what is your plan after you finish your Graduate degree and how the lab and the University in general can help you achieve that.

Hi Moid, Congratulations, you're at the final step which is mainly administrative. Just make a preference order according to the professors or labs where you want to work at. The same research theme is okay but you're free to make adjustments if there is any major difference.

Hi yeah that's a good point. Yeah, you can send introductory email with CV and based on professor's reply you can make proposal if they ask for it.

how did you sent 30 emails if embassy only allows you to send 2 emails per univesity and cant send any more emails until you have an answer. Should i just ignore that and send emails anyways.

Yes, research proposal is required anyway. Because that is something you have to do for the future. (The actual research can be a little different though). You don't have to convert CGPA. It's okay to write as it is.

Can i please have an answer to my question. So i applied for MEXT through my country's Embassy and got shortlisted but after the interview i didn't make it to second screening because of many reasons which I can't get into. Hi there, As you may know, MEXT also has a university track. You can apply for it at the same time when you apply for admission from your home country. (As far as I know you have to apply from your home county for MEXT university track). Professors you are willing to accept you in their labs can support you to apply for MEXT university track. Even in some universities, recommendation letter from a professor is required in order to apply for admission (with or without MEXT scholarship). Lastly, university has some private scholarships which you can only apply after starting your studies. I hope it helps.

Embassy intake starts from the April of next year after application year. And university recommendation intake starts from September of next year after the application year.

It depends upon each university. For example Tokyo Tech asks to get an acceptance letter from the professor before applying at the university portal.

For undergraduate. Either directly apply in university or through the embassy of Japan in your country.

Hi bro I got two acceptance from two universities for university track One is an Associate professor and other is Professor. Should i try to get acceptance from other universities too or just try to focus on these two universities. And my 2nd question is my CGPA is 3.53 and its approx 87% because our university follwed relative grading system. Are universities evaluate the applicants on their CGPA or percentage. Cuz many universities follows absolute grading system in pakistan. Although they got more then 3.9 CGPA but they have lesser percentage as compare to us...

Hi Farhan, It's better than you choose the best options out of the two you have got. Technically you can apply for one university at a time for MEXT University Recommendation Track. GPA should be above the minimum requirements then content of the application form and research proposal and recommendation letters increase your chance of acceptance.

Welcome to Japan. MEXT Scholarship should be applied for home country. But you can still apply for admission in university and if you get admission you can apply for other university funded scholarships.

Hi Haris Bahi, I've been interviewed by a Japanese Professor for Master's via University Track. After they said that you have to first clear Entry Test and they also said you have to come Japan for the test. Do you have any idea about the traveling expenses? Is it sponsored by MEXT too? or if there is any other way to do this please share🙂

Hi Jawad, I see, I didn't know that such requirements exist. The travel will most probably not be sponsored by the MEXT. You can tell the professor that it's not easy for you to Visit Japan for test and especially the visa process can be tricky and request them to arrange some online test.

Yes that's right. University of Tokyo has different procedure. You need to apply on their portal first.

It's okay to mention the name of professor, if you got the acceptance. You can also mention just department and university name.

Hi, the reason is that there are many engineering universities in Japan which offer programs in English. If you can find any program in archeology offered in your preferred language then there is no reason not to apply for it.

Yes that's possible. And language proficiency certificate works in most universities. Actually when professor takes interview, he/she can also decide to give you expemtioon from IELTS if they are satisfied with your English ability.

In case of MEXT, research plan is most important. There is no separate statement of purpose.

Hi Maruf, Unfortunately Japanese scholarships have criteria of 80% marks in the last degree. You can still look into taking admissions privately and then by applying for fee exemption. And cover the remaining cost by part time jobs.

The type of entrance exam depends upon each university. Some universities have written exam and some have interview based. You can ask that professor to provide you some samples of the exams and also targeted domain/topics of the exam. Usually they provide such information for preparation.

Can we apply for university track in mext for undergraduate also !!

Brother MEXT scholarship has a strict criteria but there are many private scholarships that you can get after securing admission.

It is possible but you have to make a very nice research proposal. Because professors acceptance is completely based on that. Once professor become interested in your research proposal and profile he/she can manage some finding for you after securing admission.

After professor accepts you, you need to apply for admission in the university admission office.

Hi Resham, Yes you can apply, you can get the provisional graduation certificate from University and attach it with application as replacement of your degree.

Hmmmm. Good question, will try to confirm it. But my instinct is that it is required in Arts and Humanities. You can also ask from admission office by sending email.

No. Japanese is not mandatory to learn, you just need to make sure that you choose the course which offers classes in English or at least most classes if not all.
