How to Conquer Secret Sin // Slaying the Shadows // Nona Jones
Too many people have a strong reputation but weak character. Your reputation is what people think about you; your public persona. Your character is who you really are; your private identity. To be a person of integrity is to be a person who has congruence between your public reputation and your private character, but many people are living a dissonant life. Their public persona is righteous but their private identity is ratchet.
Although David slaying Goliath gets all of the headlines in church, David's public victory was the result of the private lions and bears he slayed in the shadows while tending his father's sheep. His victory in the spotlight was an outgrowth of his victory in the shadows, which is why God wants us to not be satisfied with "looking" like we're victorious when we're actually living defeated.

This is so powerful. I wish more people would sincerely accept the transforming power & healing of Christ. The father of my child abandoned us because of his addiction to porn - and additionally, drugs. It's tragic that the pull of sin is so strong it destroys millions of families. I'm just so grateful 🙏🏻 God opened my eyes, spoke to my heart, and is restoring my mind.

Hi Nona, I'm trying to gain understanding over these two passages in the Bible. 1 Timothy 2:12 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 1 Corinthians 14:32-35 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. Thanks for asking. If you are truly struggling to understand, I recommend you read the totality of the New Testament to gain context for what the Apostle Paul is writing, especially the context of the church at Corinth in particular (which I have done). If you are, instead, against women preaching, when you reach glory and God asks you to give an account for the number of souls your life is responsible for winning to the Kingdom, be reminded that you will give an account for your impact and the number of souls you did (or did not) win. You won’t give an account for me or any other woman preacher. Thanks for asking!
