The hourglasses in phase 2 are reduced by Deep Dissent. Instead of summoning 12, one on each number of the clock, he only summons the first 6. It’s actually pretty clutch since you can murder the first 3 during his invincible phase.

​@@yadamspiezer5 minutes forces you into the easiest setup; killing everything quickly lowers the chances to make mistakes and take damage, and forces you into a good build.

I just beat a 32 fear run last night using this aspect (I agree that it's the best for this post the staff nerf) but a completely different fear setup. Zero healing and ultra strict timer for me is just a no go. If I'm trying to kill everything as fast as possible to not get killed by the timer, I'm going to make mistakes, get hit, have no healing, and I'm dead. Instead, I did all the enemies and no time limit. This axe works really well for kiting enemies. Get them all to chase you nice and close together, then cast them (with scorch or something to chew through their hit absorption) and smash. You can take out like 10+ at once, then just dash and grab all their ghosts before they respawn. Repeat until the room is clear. Demeter on attack and special is great for locking them down and dealing with a ton of enemies at once. Combined that with a ranged cast from Zeus or Hestia and something on it that does continual damage, and you're good. The Night Bloom Hex also made my run WAY easier at the end. Chronos' minions hit hard, and being able to continually turn one of them on him (since this aspect uses tons of magic, you can be raising new zombies constantly) massively increased the damage I could do to him. I think Night Bloom is the second best aspect after Moon Water, (and you could argue it's BETTER after the Moon Water nerf). NB requires zero additional tree options to be extremely effective, especially at the end game where if you don't have any upgrades to most of the other Hexes at that point they are entirely worthless.

Yeah personally if I'm doing no healing, I'm not taking the more damage for enemies. I also refuse to take revenants no matter what.

Definitely worth rarifying Born Gain at the start there.

@@joedorben3504 At rare, max magic is reduced to 80 and at 8 magic primed that's 10 "charges" of Born Gain. At epic, max magic is reduced to 70 and at 6 magic primed that's 11 charges of Born Gain. Picking up max magick during the run also becomes more valuable with epic Born Gain. But I guess the boon is so strong it doesn't really matter.

Thankfully I managed to beat 32 fear before the momus nerf, but I appreciate this videos so much, thanks

@@musicz0nesm489 normal specials had more power and there was a hammer that made specials follow foes and launch two projectiles, basically you had to spam right click and you won the game. Now the aspect and hammers are reworked so that strategy doesnt work anymore.

You actually do get fewer enemies in chronos phase 2 with deep dissent. Without it, 12 hourglasses spawn, one by one, on each of the 12 numbers on the clock. With deep dissent, only the first six spawn

Ahh I had never taken notice exactly how it worked there.

For the math part in BORN AGAIN boon For RARE GRADE : max magic is 80 u prime 8 magic each time hence, u prime 10 times And total magic amount u get is 440 But assuming u only use your special u are gonna use 45 magic each time so u can only utilize 405 magic i.e., 9 times. For EPIC GRADE : max magic is 70 u prime 6 magic each time hence, u prime 11 times And total magic amount u get is 400 But assuming u only use your special u are gonna use 45 magic each time so u can only utilize 360 magic i.e., 8 times. Hence, Rare grade was the right choice here

Managed to beat 32 fear for both underworld and surface following this so thanks for sharing. I never used hera’s magic regen since I mistakenly thought the magic you primed in a room carried over to the next room now that i know it’s not the case god damn it’s amazing. I had to do 7 minute timer, I kept running out of time with Kronos second stage and couldn’t do the first surface section fast enough with just 5. I got to say besides hera, Demeter was such a god send for my run, got both her curses for origination and coarse grit because i take hits I shouldn’t and capping damage at 15 despite my vows was great. But yeah thanks for the help and the awesome content.

I've actually started using The Unseen arcana (magick regen) over Strength for high magick consumption aspects like Charon and the torches for high fear tight deadline runs. It really eases up your boon choices to not have to hard roll for magick regen within the first few chambers or risk timing out on Hecate.

Thank you for the guide and build. The 5 min timer is brutal but I was able to get a 16 fear clear.

My fav setup for this run is Hephestus + Hera duo boon, since it works with Mint Condition and Born Gains. You can manipulate gods choices ad get it in chapter 2. After it's smooth sailing. Casual +200% damage on your special is great!

Thank you! I did this but opted for higher health and more revenants instead of the timer. I think I would just make more mistakes while being stressed and I could accomodate the increased number of enemies and longer fights by being more methodical. Worked like a charm!

Night Bloom summons no longer take damage from you BUT will still eat / block your attacks so bad with Demeter or any hard CC. Also they attack ridiculously faster now.

They can block your attacks, but at the same time they can also block enemy attacks to protect you (including hecates hex)

For this build another idea would be to keep some healing and do rebuke, BUT make sure to take Demeter/Hestia cast (or gale force) to proc the blue hearts. Lightning lance works too for damage and extra distance. I just think 0 healing feels bad.

Tried to beat 32 fear with 5 min deadline and keep failling, after the 4th attempt ended up taking a truck of unnecesary vows just to play it safe at 7 min and now i'm night's champion

The second phase of the Chronos fight doesn't count as a new encounter for Mint Condition, right?

I love Aspect of Charon, and I considered it for my 32 Fear Run. Instead, I still needed to get 20 Fear testament for skulls, and went for 32 on Aspect of Mel. Got super lucky with the Omega Attack Hammers and coasted on easy street.

Finished 32 using Momus for easy first chambers, the hammer that heals whenever I kill with an Omega Attack to help stay alive and a perfect Wolf Howl for the later parts of the game. 1.4k damage for 25 magick with 1s invincibility is strong enough. Had the magick and health regen Arcana so I did not need any boons at all. Was fun and shows that different builds can still beat 32 without it being significantly harder.

My first time 32 fear actually was with aspect of pan with poseidon spec, definitely my favorite build so far

Same. It was still brutal though. Ended with 48 health, no death defiance, 2 seconds left on the clock and only 16 unprimed magic.

This is exactly the build that I used to beat Chronos for the first time. It's stupidly good.

One thing i found to be useful on charon is that u can actually dash mid omega special and keep the same channeling direction ( i think it's a shadow buff) , made the aspect feel a lot safer up close for me

I think they changed something with your summoned creatures, they don't take damage from you anymore, but they take curses xD

I actually feel like night bloom and twilight curse hexes are in a much better place now. Lunar ray mainly still just needs to let you dodge while casting (I’ve said this before). The buff to wolf howl makes it great, probably the best damage hex, total eclipse is underpowered in comparison now I think. But I think perhaps a way to make these hexes more desirable in general, while preserving the current design is just to immediately give you a path of stars upgrade upon acquiring the hex. The keepsake for Selene should also guarantee she shows up as either a hex or a path of stars (same as the other god keepsakes) essentially.

For 32 Fear, I think using Vow of Panic is pretty much free if you're going for a Born Gain start, at the end of the day is just -10 Magick. Been doing it for every aspect that's centered around magick without problems lol

You can hex curse the giant hydra mini boss in Oceanus and the Sheep Morph is HUGEEEE

I think aspect of Pan + Poseidon special is easier to win with 32 fear. The axe is just slow to get going with a 5 minute timer but Pan is really good with just a few boons and the hammers can really make a difference. Vow of rebuke isn't a problem at all with this build and taking vow of desperation to the max saves you a lot of fear points.

Finally! beat 32. Evil eye destroys Chronos and Eris. I used vow of bitterness and vow of haunting lol

9:26 Increasing the rarity gives you 444 mana vs 440 mana. However. the Hera boon effectively gives you free mana for overspending, and if you take that into account and just use your 45 mana cost special, you have 745 total mana vs 675 total mana. So increasing the rarity was the better choice. However, both are so good, it might be better to increase the rarity of a different Hera boon. When you take into account the free overspending mana, it is always better to upgrade it, no matter which rarity. (630, 675, 745, 855) And this isn't taking into account the fact you are getting additional max mana throughout the run. Once you take that into account, upgrading it becomes even better. TLDR: it is always better to upgrade the Hera mana boon unless you want to upgrade a different Hera boon.

I didn't take into account the fact that your max mana need to be high enough to use the special. I thought Born Gain let you spend until your mana was 0, so that changes how much benefit you get. Anyways, this makes the normal, rare, and epic all the same with 450 magic. (10 uses) The heroic is worse with 360 mana. (8 uses) However, one mana upgrade makes it so upgrading the rarity is better. (855, 945, 990,1080) The benefit of pomming it benefits the higher rarities more as well. (Ignoring the bug that causes pomming the boon to remove priming cost.) TLDR: upgrading it didn't provide a benefit until two rooms later, in which case it was better.

Do you have all aspects at max rank? Or are you using a custom modded save file?

Great Guide! I just did 32 with this setup on my second try. I haden't even attempted it before ... Edit: on my first try I ran into the deadline AND ran out of magic at hecate.

2 less primed magic from Born Gain is going to be better than flat 10 primed after only 5 Born Gains, and having just 100 max magic with a --6 Born Gain gives 16 Born Gains. Essentially 30% more total magic being 6 over 8. But any amount of Born Gain is near infinite magic.

U said that circle attack is unblockable? Try again. As it comes to you face it sideways aka the direction its moving toward you. It will BREAK the entire beam.

As a normie player, I have a wildly different vow setup. Prepare to laugh at me. I want 50-75% healing. No vow of desperation. Instead, gimme more enemies. It doesn't make the game harder, it just takes longer. I'll make my first boon in each region an onion. It's annoying, but 3 fewer boons at the end of a run doesn't really matter. I don't want more than 20% damage from foes. I'll take 100% more from the first hit in each encounter (many many ways to deal with this).

I agree. I think Haelian just doesn’t find it fun to do an extra long run. But many of us don’t find 32 to be fun any way (especially with the current vows) so would rather do revenants and extra enemies, and keep healing just to get that 32 out of the way. Lightning Lance also makes it safer.

3 fewer boons is huge and can break runs. Especially when often you won't get more than one or two boons outside of shops/Narcissus in Oceanus. 100% more damage on first hit is often what deals the biggest chunk of damage you take in a room

In my first failed 32 fear run, i had more enemies per encounter, but some rooms.... were not ready for that amount. especially not with increased enemy speed. you couldnt stand anywhere without being surrounded and attacked.. scary stuff :p

why aren't we using Huntress? i'm not clear on that one... seems like such a good arcana to take!

If we're mostly using the omega special, the Huntress does not help. Only boosts regular attack and special damage.

How much Fear do I need to run before I start gaining Nightmare?

One. It scales up for each weapon individually as you gain Nightmares. You just need to look on the left of the fear panel to see which boss you need to kill with what weapon.

Hopefully this curbs the number of “What should I do about X fear” that has to be redirected in Twitch. Feel like 4/5 last vids he’s had someone ask that question (that’s just the ones he’s responded to in KZread videos specifically). I’m sure he loves talking about the game but getting the same question repeatedly can be irritating.

it is viable because poseidon is still strong but it is less safe because radius and Axe is just stronger. it is best aspect atm for fear 32 because you just press special and everything on screen is cleared. His arcana setup might not be most optimal though.. Same for fear 32. 5 minute deadline is really brutal for most players. I think most people will fail 5 min deadline in first region. You're probably better off using Onion, No mana and maybe reducing health gain. Hope you get Hera(Onion)->Hera and not Selene's useless curse starts or unlucky hammer start with 0 mana.

I'm sure it's viable but it not has 40% reduced range and no additional Special power from the aspect. No more free wins with it is all.

So just saw the start of the video for the set up and got to Chronos first run and didnt get good boon luck so yeah seems good.

80 magick but 8 each time is 10 usage of special with giga cleaver 70 magick but 6 each time is 9 but in a long run with more magick its much better so that was an L to not rarify born gain

Nice to see someone doing the maths correctly. Most people just look at it as 2 less magick 5 times equals the 10 primed magick, but don't consider what this actually means for how much use you get out of your abilities. It's interesting that when born gain procs it doesn't overflow. So if you have 5 Magick and use you 45 magick ability you still go up to max (not including the primed magick). Honestly if they want to nerf it then changing that would might be all that's needed.

I beat it with Aspect of Melinoë Moonstone Axe with only 28 grasp unlocked. I'm a little proud of myself.

@@joedorben3504 I used vow of desperation at 9 minutes, everything else I used were fully activated: vow of arrogance, vow of forsaking, vow of panic, vow of wandering, vow of haunting, vow of commotion, vow of blood, vow of dominance, vow of rebuke and vow of fury. For Arcana Cards I used: Non maxed out: the huntress and the origination, all the other Arcana Cards were maxed out which were: The Sorceress, The Wayward Son, Death, The Messenger, The Titan, The Unseen, Eternity, The Swift Runner, The Centaur, Excellence and Divinity.
