How To Connect & Link Tarot Cards - Masterclass 1

Фильм және анимация

Truly Teach Me Tarot video channel has been launched as companion to teachmetarot.com, my Free Access, Online Holistic Tarot Teaching Blog/Site. Launched in 2012, teachmetarot.com is an ongoing project with over 300 pages of tarot study, and a viewing audience of more than 11 million.
My new Channel will offer a series of Video Tutorials and Masterclasses for those who wish to learn the art of Holistic Tarot Reading. Holistic Tarot Reading uses a practical approach to finding realistic solutions to real-life modern-day issues by using relevant, instantly recognisable interpretations that can be easily implemented. Holistic Tarot incorporates an eclectic fusion of methods of tarot interpretation from traditional to analytical, to academic, to intuitive. Truly Teach Me Tarot focuses deeply on the Elemental/Archetypal energies at play in tarot. The content on both the Truly Teach Me Tarot Channel and its Mother Ship site, teachmetarot.com demonstrates how pivotal these aspects are to truly understanding the workings of tarot and the stories contained within.
Anyone can learn tarot. Although definitely a bonus, there is no need for strong Psychic, Mediumship or Clairvoyant abilities. What is needed is patience, an open and exploring mind, and an undertaking to become an apprentice of the craft. It is also useful to develop analytical and investigative thinking. You will not learn tarot overnight, despite what some might claim. Mastering the Tarot, be it Holistic or traditional, can only come about through practice and accumulated experience. Truly Teach Me Tarot aims to assist you on this journey.
So go grab a deck of tarot and get started!
The two cards which feature in this class are The Four of Wands and The Ace of Cups Reversed. We first examine the cards individually before searching for connections between them. Then we add extra cards to demonstrate how a story can expand and develop.
This is my very first video. I notice I use the term 'what if' multiple times and I am sure it will annoy you just as much as it annoyed me, when I watched it back. I have made sure to go easy on the 'what ifs' in subsequent videos!!!!!
Please visit my free access Holistic Tarot Reading website at teachmetarot.com where you will find over 300 pages of self-study tarot content.
Please share this video and don't forget to subscribe to my channel.

So, when doing a reading, do you just go with your first couple interpretations (intuitively)a story line, or should there always be more cards drawn for clarifiers?

  • @trulyteachmetarot9044

    @trulyteachmetarot9044

    4 жыл бұрын

Hi. When doing a reading, it is important to always come back to the root of the question being asked otherwise it is easy to drift off in non relevant directions as there are so many potential interpretations for every card. It is a bit of a juggling act as you must take into consideration how the card drawn could potentially relate to the question being asked based on traditional interpretation of card, element, its position in a spread if using a spread and any intuitive responses to the card. Keep coming back to the question though. If the question is about if it is a good time to launch a new business and the Ace of Cups is drawn, remember the question is about a business and not a romantic encounter. I have seen this in class where a novice student will begin talking about the potential for a new relationship as they associate the Cups suit with romantic love. The reading thus goes totally off track. Sticking with the Ace of Cups for the above question we must ask what it is telling us in the traditional sense along with our intuitive reaction to the card which must relate to the question. So if you still intuitively feel this Ace is representing a relationship and not business ask yourself what it is doing in a business reading? The question is about a good time to start a new business so what might our gut feelings be? A new relationship or love interest dominates the mind and could potentially result in distractions, not putting the full focus on the new business. Looking for love at the same time as trying to launch a new business. Dissipated energy and poor timing. Concentrate on one area at a time. Or Yes, it's a good time as your heart is fully in this. The business has something to do with creativity,; art, craft, fashion, child care, nursing, or spiritual/psychic stuff. (Think of all the careers related to the suit of Cups, element of Water. ) This business will be a labour of love. Starting a business not just for money but for personal career happiness too. Not all about money. Business has a good chance of success as you are doing something you love. Business still very much a dream at present. Full of ideals, hopes and wishes without much groundwork yet done. Don't launch anything until you have a proper workable plan in place (Swords), sufficient funds and premises (Pentacles), The energy, motivation and vision to get it up and running. You may love what you do, but will others? Cups can be idealistic so practical questions may need to be asked about the feasibility of the business idea . Now which one could it be, or is it something totally different. After listening to the querant's background information and their question, your first impressions should be forming with this card. This may be a standalone card and if so, pulling an extra card or two to flank it will either confirm or negate your intuitive impressions. If the card is part of a spread, the surrounding cards should offer clues as to the direction the story line should go. Look for supporting cards to your theories but also keep an open mind to avoid losing objectivity. If the card is in a spread and the surround cards just don't seem to explain its presence, then go ahead and pull an extra card or two to flush out its meaning. Don't be tempted to draw too many cards as this will end up causing confusion.

Hi Ms. Vivien! Because you have helped me so much and you are just starting out with youtube I''d like to offer my advice and ideas as viewer. During this time in the internet world people's attention span are very very short. Last I heard the longest the younger generation can pay attention is 6 seconds which I believe is true because I've been pay attention to my own attention span.. Well anyway my point is this video is very long and in order to get a bigger fanbase you would need to offer something shorter as well. I think the long in depth class videos are great for a start and you shouldn't stop them but add some shorter ones as well. I came up with this idea I think would be perfect to capture short attention spans. I was thinking you could do a segment called "10 Minutes with Vivian!" and during these videos you would only focus on one card at a time it doesn't have to be in order, its best if its not in order because it would keep the people coming back for the element of surprise. Well in this video I think focusing only on the upright explanation of a card would be great then just do 78 of those and then another 78 only focusing on the reverses but not even the same card as before like for example Tuesday you talk about upright Hermit and then Thursday you talk about reverse Magician and just back and forth like that until you finish. I'm sure you already have plenty of ideas because you said you've been teaching for years but I just want to help incorporate my 2 cents lol. I have other ideas as well if you'd like to discuss more. I wish you the best success!!

Hi Simone. Yes, I will be doing short mini videos on a variety of topics. My time is restricted as I also write and do sewing crafts too. I am a one woman show so have to manage it all plus my website and all admin. I am not really trying to compete with the major video influencers in tarot as I simply wouldn't have the time or energy to dedicate to it. Very happy you enjoyed my videos and if I decide to get fully involved with KZread I will be back to you. Thanks again for your very relevant suggestions.

when you're doing a reading, do you have to use a spread? or is that just for giving more guidance on how to interpretate a card?

You don't actually need a spread but they are handy for keeping things in perspective but avoid becoming overly rigid with reading each position individually. With practice you should be able to get the gist of what is going on without placing cards in specific positions.

Hi, its not a spread at all. The exercises are all about finding links between cards when they appear in a spread or if drawing just a couple of cards. By placing two or three cards together we explore the stories they hold individually and then how these stories might interact with each other to create a more in-depth story line. The exercises engage the imagination and not just existing knowledge of the cards. They also help with story-telling.

I live in Ireland and began exploring tarot before the internet took over back in 1996/97. Classes were few and far between. I had to travel quite a distance to find one. I had a very good teach called Emmet but he upped and emigrated. I then studied books, anything I could get my hands on. I did find it daunting and confusing. When the internet took off I found some stuff online, but it was all very sparse. It wasn't until I began studying others disciplines such as archetypes, numerology that it began making any sense. I then did a course in Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy and Psychology. It was the study of psychology and personality profiling that really opened the tarot for me as it introduced me to archetype profiling and how it can help predict actions and behavior. Many psychology students have worked with tarot, not to become tarot readers, but because tarot is so closely connected with this field of study. I met a psychology professor at a party a couple of years ago who told me she insisted all her students get a deck of tarot to work with as they would learn a lot about themselves through them and also how to profile others. Other than that, reading, reading and more reading. I am not a fan of 'just add hot water and stir' education, 'Learn In A Weekend' stuff. I like big heavy books full of knowledge and lots of them. I like to sit with stuff until I fully understand it. I seek deep knowledge, not superficial. I also have an active, questioning, analytical brain that never stops.

I enjoyed the video, but it kind of defeats the purpose of connecting random cards if you're looking through the deck for cards that fit the story..

Hi Theresa. Thanks for your comment. The aim of the videos is to find connections between cards. They are not based on real readings. I try to show how stories can be found when an extra card is added. They are all hypothetical situations. By selecting varying cards from the deck I demonstrate how the addition of an additional card can either expand on the story of the current card or take it in a completely new direction. This method can be used incorporating the whole deck by starting with the first card, planting the seed of a story from it and then turning over the next card to add more detail to said story or a character. This continues card by card until the whole deck has been used up. The aim is to encourage free association, engage the imagination, along with traditional understanding of the card and element depicted. The deck has been blindly shuffled thus making each card random.
