Clem, do you have any tips on how best to hide the connections between each of your color-matches? (you know, the length of wire that matches up all your greens, all your reds and so forth? I'm sure I could purchase some "channels" to house the strips, I think it will be unsightly to have a foot of wiring at each meeting point between strips? Thanks for making the video no other KZreadr has made, how to actually connect each strip to one another, to the power supply and the RF controller.

Just an observation, you will need to follow Clem's equipment even if you want 2 strips, in fact, the cheesy 10 amp AC adapters these usually come with, your brightness will fade before even the end of the first 16 foot light strip, (halfway into the 2nd wire you won't have 50% brightness) unless you bought super-cheap strips with not many lights-per-foot. The 220 PS Clem recommended was perfect for 3 strips (48 feet) or a standard 10'by 12' room (44 feet)

You'll never believe this trick I stumbled across Clem, while pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to connect my 3 5 meter strips adding power injection, I added one of those little 6 amp mini-controllers, the + and - to my power supply and each end of the mini amp I plugged into strip #2 and strip #3 and VOILA! NO VOLTAGE DROP! At least to the eye...even at full white!!! There may be the very slightest dimming on the #2 strand, but I'm being nitpicky, I'd say it's at roughly 85%, strips 1 and 3 100%

Really enjoy your videos... My question is can a led strip light (RGB OR SINGLE) be connected to a dimmer...? And how can it be connected..? Pls I need a video Thanks

unfortunately I do not see a video being created for this topic any time soon. to answer your question is Yes. several ways. one of the easy ways is to get a controller that can change your RGB or single lights and they always have a feature that you can dim the lights. another way is to get a magnetic power supply and put a dimmer to the that. in the pass several years a company has created a dimmer just for LED'S that does not required a magnetic PS. you can use a regular PS and then use the switch to dim the RGB and white lights. I hope this helps. But remember that you cannot just add any dimmer to LEDS because the LED it will start to flicker.

You do need low voltage wire for LEDS

With all 3 strips wired this way, you can only have the strips in a linear fashion (one on top of the next) and not set up to wrap around a room?

Try testing the strip from the other end. If that works and your first segment the G is not turning on it might be that first segment that is bad.

Hey Clem, now that I've got everything wired up correctly (and tested/working perfectly) I'm thinking it will be a hassle to hide the pigtails between each strips meeting points (end of the first strip, end of the 2nd strip and we havent included "home runs" right? Unless you think my 220 will drive all 3 strips

It will be some work but it will look finish. You will have to go up in the attic to run the wire from the lights strip back to the controller.

  • @wyattspop

Clem, change the title to include "strip lighting" as this should have thousands of views already, it's the only video on KZread that shows the work, every other video only describes the work which is not helpful at all.
