It works! I thought it wasn't working at first but I just had to wiggle around the little metal piece that goes inside the PS portal because it's just a little finicky, so don't worry if this happens to you.

Don’t get your hopes up my airpods pro barely get any sound with PS Portal at full volume.

Can’t believe in this day and age it doesn’t have Bluetooth sad really even phones from 15 years ago had Bluetooth

I bought it, but the lag is awful.. the sound is about 3 to 5 seconds late on my Galaxy Buds 2.. ended up being pretty distracting.. but for only $6, it was worth a try, and I'm sure I'll find another use for it.

Would you have to charge the adapter every time it dies or does the power of the portal give it battery when in transmitter mode?

Got it paired but no sound

No matter what I do, I have a high pitch frequency with my earphones. I tried 2 different pair and does the same thing. Am I doing something wrong? Or a defected portal jack? It sounds fine when I use wired earphones. I also tried 2 different Bluetooth receivers.

Have you definitely plugged the receiver all the way in? Sounds stupid I know but they can feel like they are in when they aren't. Give it an extra firm push.

I used these for my Nintendo switch until they sorted it out, I must say latency was a problem

Honestly sounds just as good as being wired straight in.

but it doesn't make sense. you still have to have an option pop up on the screen to be able to find the onscreen pair button

It's the same as Bluetooth in a car, which are notorious for never having an on screen prompt. Essentially, it more or less just auto accepts anything, as if someone is constantly pressing the "pair" button on the first receiver device it sees on the on screen display. It does mean that it may connect to basically anything that is also in pair mode, though, as long as it's a receive device (like headphones, speakers, etc. Things that take the signal, instead of pushing it out like a phone or tv would). In fact, devices like these are used specifically for stuff like cars or older tvs that never have onscreen displays. It was originally the *default* for all Bluetooth devices, before security became a concern and people made devices that require a user to hit "pair" or "accept". So it's a fairly normal thing.

As I mention in the video, Bluetooth has latency. It's just how the tech works. We don't notice as much with using buds on our phones because of how we use them, but play games with Bluetooth on a laptop or PC and you'll see a delay. This is also why Bluetooth audio devices aren't natively supported by the PS5 because most people don't realise it just wouldn't work as well as they'd expect. The latency with the adapter I got for the portal is about as good as you'll get for Bluetooth tbh. There's a reason gaming headsets have their own transmitter instead of using BT :)

It worksish. The latency is awful. Id suggest buying the sony ear buds or headset.

You don't pair it with the ps5 or ps portal device. You pair your receiver device (your Bluetooth headphones) with this transmitter in the video directly. Think of it like an old TV or a car without Bluetooth ability at all, or even with a screen that you could even use to find and accept a Bluetooth connection. This device bypasses that, and just accepts the first receiver device (like headphones) that is in pair mode, if you press the pair button on the transmitter first. Basically, with this, you do NOT go into the settings on the Playstation to connect. Everything is done through the transmitter device directly.

I imagine latency is not great!

This is the best one for the price which from research, is the sort of amount most people are willing to spend to add BT to the portal hence me going with it. Do you have suggestions for smaller ones that still have the same amount or lower latency? I was unable to find any as good or better that are just as hidden. I have also linked to a better spec one, though is less hidden.

Look for a bt transmitter device with a dedicated power cable. Preferably one plugging into the USB c port on the portal directly. It won't be as pretty and may cost a bit more ($10-27 generally), but absolutely worth it. The delay on devices without that cable, like the ones in this video, will have awful delay. The one in this video is pretty bad, even if it is one of the least-terrible ones.
