So in this video I'm showing you the easiest and most simple way to connect your Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to a HDMI TV or HDMI computer monitor or any number of other HDMI displays and screens. With this being the easy method, it only uses a simple passive USB C to HDMI cable. Because this cable uses the USB C port on the S23 Ultra, this means that you can't power and charge the phone at the same time via USB C. However, you can use wireless charging to power and charge the S23 Ultra while this cable is in use. I will do a video soon showing another way of doing this using a USB C hub or USB C dock. This will have many other features on it such as 5Gb/s USB A ports for peripherals such as external SSD drives and flash drives which will also allow you to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse. The USB C hub also has SD card readers, an ethernet port for wired internet, a 3.5mm TRRS headphone and microphone socket, 10Gb/s USB C data port for drives and storage etc. I'm likely to have done that video soon after this one and will put a link here or just checkout my S23 Ultra playlist kzread.info/head/PLleKChtNUwZTKrj5bokzS4M3kYePZKhb0 The method in this video will also work with the standard S23 and the S23+. Once connected you can screen mirror your S23 Ultra or use DeX which will give an excellent Android desktop experience which essentially turns your Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra into a desktop PC computer. Once in mirroring mode or DeX you can use many of your apps on a much bigger screen. I personally use DeX for Android gaming with a PS5 controller, basically turning my Galaxy S23 Ultra into an Android desktop gaming console. The s10 wouldn't work without an official and hence expensive Samsung hub. Then one had to redirect audio via the hub. It is in the settings - search device output or audio output

Hey Dave, awesome video thank you, I am thinking of upgrading my Samsung A50 to the S23 (not Ultra) for the exact features you've shown, but please can you tell me if you know whether the USBC to HDMI will work on a projector machine? It would be awesome to watch vids with my kids as a cinema experience. If so, does the projector need certain specs, or could i get a fairly cheap (on a budget! Lol). Many thanks.

Hi, James. There’s nothing I’ve used that doesn’t accept the HDMI output, so I would imagine that there’d be no problems with a HDMI capable projector. I even use the HDMI output to connect to game capture devices and everything is great. I think what you have in mind will be awesome for you and your kids 👍 Cheers, Dave.

I've got the 23 Ultra, but it doesn't want to reocgnize the external screen connected via the Apple dongle (USB-C to HDMI & USB-C & USB-A), which works just fine with my Note 10+ till this day. I'm quite surprised it's longer possible to connect to HDMI with the newest Samsung phone. Both phones can be charged while the dongle is connected, but the s23 Ultra doesn't connect to the screen. At the same time my USB-C to Displayport cable works fine with both phones.

Hi. I have also noticed the odd issue with the S23 Ultra were certain USB C hubs that worked perfectly with the my previous S22 Ultra, don't work with their HDMI output with the S23 Ultra. Maybe this is something that Samsung can fix in future software updates but I'm not sure. Cheers, Dave.

In mirrored mode it's 4K and in DeX mode it's 1080. If you use Goodlock in DeX mode you can get 4K.

No, I’ve not seen that,

Ige plugged everything right but my phone recognised the USB but won't go in to mirroring or lunch dex...

Your wireless keyboard and mouse need to have the USB tab plugged in, and you don't have any more ports. It may be best to buy a touch screen to do this.

Your having the same issue I'm getting I have a usb monitor I used with my note 20 just plug and play but my s23 ultra only turns it on but won't send the signal

I used an adapter that allows me to charge at the same time. But I have no sound from the tv but from my phone. How can I transfer the sound as well? I watch videos from you tube.

Hi I had the same thing happening but if you go to the search bar on your phone before you connect the hdmi and type in DEX mode and then toggle the automatic setting off , you will be able to mirror your phone with the HDMI cord

Yes I did, it turns out my brand new S23 had a defective USB port. I went to a Verizon store and they were able to connect a store S23 directly to TV with HDMI cable but it didn't work with mine. They gave me a new phone and it's worked ever since. I hope yours is under warranty still! FWIW, I occassionally have trouble getting it to hookup but I think it's the cable. I play around with it and eventually it works although it's sensitive to movement. Good luck@@veraa2316

U need not a cable u need a phone that has specifically and must be USB type C version 3.2 any phone which has port version less than 3.2 will never screen mirror through wire but u can still if u cast but u need a tv not monitor

Just dont forget to put the phone on airplane mode when connecting the phone to a projector for presentation.

Hi. If you use what I’ve used in this video then yes, the speed of the HDMI output to the HDMI input of a TV or monitor is fast enough for gaming. Basically, there is no latency (lag). However, some USB C docks and cables do have a slight lag. The best option is to use the old Samsung DeX Station. Cheers, Dave.
