How to connect a Refrigerator to a sink water line (DIY)

Here I am working at an office. We didn’t want to turn off the water to the building because we didn’t know where it was and could get ahold of the landlord. So in this hook up I tried to keep it inline with a valve in an easy access position. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL PLUMBER by no means but the owner of the business trust me and I know enough to DIY this set up. Any question comments or ways to do it better please feel free to comment!

Cool. Finally a video that isn't cutting into pipe or using those super jenky pipe stabbing clamps that mess up your pipes. I live in a townhouse/apt so there is no water line. I will probably do the same drilling into cupboards to keep it as discrete as possible. Will be so nice to have our ice maker working this summer.

Great video, definitely going to try this out! It’d be nice to have all the tools and items purchased in the description box to make it easier for your viewers but I’ll just go through the video when I purchase haha

Awesome! When my new refrigerator comes in I will try to add water to it, sadly my old house doesn’t have water going to the fridge and the fridge I have is a normal fridge.

You forgot to put the feral on before the brass fitting then tighten to main valve. Your going to catch a leak eventually .

Hello! Yes I leave them both on. the yellow valve is strictly for the Refrigerator, incase that they'd like to move the fridge the can shut of the water supply solely to that line. thanks!

every fitting used was the incorrect type, just waiting for a flood to happen. Thats why you had so many issues with leaks.

  • @bchluvrxyz816

Besides using dissimilar metals, they make a fitting that has an outlet for the sink supply, and a 1/4” outlet for the refrigerator water line supply. Also, most plumbers will recommend to never use the plastic line, always go for copper. Many leaks and broken lines are due to the degradation of the plastic over time, making it brittle and prone to breakage.
