I once had a Frankenstein tractor someone had built from a old school bus drivetrain. They used a rotor tiler transmission with its five horse and mounted the whole thing in front the bus transmission sideways. Then they simply drilled a hole through bus input shaft and linked it to the rotor tiler drive (right where the hub for the tines went) with a pipe . It couldn't hardly be stopped, but forth gear was a slow walk! Lol

He sure did that the hard way. All you need is a v belt and two pulleys one for the output shaft of the engine the other for the input shaft of the transmission by varying the size of the pulleys you can very the ratio between the engine and a transmission. Then all you need is an idler pulley so you can loosen the belt to shift gears very easy very straightforward.
@ChrisfromKeyfarm

So you would mount a pulley onto the transmission shaft without any bearing support? Good luck. It's a little more complicated to build a slip / tension clutch than to just use a centrifugal clutch. My current project is getting one, but for now it has a centrifugal clutch.

Great idea to use the clutch disk hub. I would use a flex coupler to isolate the crank shaft from transmission movement or misalignment. We use the flex couplers to connect small engines to hydraulic pumps for log splitters.

I used a Lovejoy coupler on my golf cart conversion for just the reason you mentioned, however with this setup it's really not necessary because it is pretty easy to get the shaft true in line with the use of body shims under the bearings if needed. Thanks for watching.

A go-kart clutch for a Predator 212 is only about 30 bucks and for the bigger engines they're about 55 and since I run a gear ratio that doesn't put a lot of stress on the clutch they really last a long time The one on the tractor lasted 3 years and I went to a different engine it never did wear out.

Not sure but there are definitely some obstacles in the way.
@bobbrinkerhoff3592
3 ай бұрын
The biggest problem with an automatic transmission is the amount of horsepower needed to get it moving due to the torque converter . A Chevy Power glide eats up 18 hp. A TH 350 takes 36 hp. And a TH 400 is hungrier yet at 48 hp. That being said , in the old days ( late 60s ) drag racers would remove the converter and swap it out for a manual clutch assembly . Remove the hub from the converter and weld it to your shaft just like you did with your clutch hub . The converter hub turns the front pump in the trans . BTW , the shifts will be brutal as the torque converter absorbs all of the shock from the shift . If you've ever driven a car with a shift kit installed, you've got an idea of what to expect .
@ChrisfromKeyfarm

Hahaha, actually tits on a bull are very important, you would never want to breed a bull that had any extra false tits because he could pass those bad genetics down to any female offspring, then their young could potentially try to suckle a false tit. So , I hope you learned something today as I did , you don't know Jack about bulls or Keyfarm projects. Thanks for watching.

@ChrisfromKeyfarm

@ChrisfromKeyfarm

Curious to see how long that little centrifugal clutch will last? I think a variable pulley system off a gulf car would be stronger? Hope it works for all of your time and efforts!

@ChrisfromKeyfarm
3 ай бұрын
Not sure but there are definitely some obstacles in the way.
@bobbrinkerhoff3592
@ChrisfromKeyfarm

Yes you could easily replace the torque converter with a centrifugal clutch just like this manual setup

You are going to miss horsepower when in mud, its either put in it a stronger motor or good reductor, reduction is most important when going through mud, becouse if it is going slow, the wheels will not spin too much in mud and when releasing the clutch under the preasure it also won't burn the clutvh

Why have a centrifugal clutch on the engine if you have a clutch in the transmission. Its just gonna burn from all the force put in before the reduction.

The original clutch is attached to the flywheel, which is attached to the back of the crankshaft, so the clutch doesn't attach to the transmission. As long as you gear it properly, the centrifugal clutch lasts a long time.
