How to Conjugate and Use IR and VIR in Brazilian Portuguese in the Present Tense - Irregular Verbs

IRREGULAR VERBS - 'VIR' and 'IR' / (to) Come and (to) Go - Have you noticed that these verbs 'go' and 'come' are super similar in Portuguese? ... IR and VIR!
Their conjugation might be a little challenging at the beginning because they are just as similar!! However, after today's class, you will be able to conjugate them in the present tense as a Brazilian does. I suggest that you watch this class not only once, or twice, but as many times as needed so that you memorize these conjugations. In today's class, we will learn:
- how to conjugate the verb '(to) go' - 'ir' in the present tense - and how to use the verb 'ir' in
Portuguese
- how to conjugate the verb '(to) come' - 'vir' in the present tense - and how to use the verb 'vir' in
Portuguese
- means of transportation
Enjoy the class!!

    Oi Bea Bom dia 😄! Espero que você me desculpa por não falar muito bem em português. Eu quero melhorar meu português. Eu sempre estou estudando em casa. 💯 Eu gostaria visitar o Brasil porque acho que é um paìs grande e melhor. Eu amo viajar com minha familia. Viajamos na Nova Iorque no ano passado. Eu gostei os restaurantes mas minha cominda favorita era a pizza. New York style! Nós gostariamos ir de volta. Eu vou a Las Vegas este mês.

    Boa tarde! Tudo bem? In general, in Brazilian Portuguese, it is not so common to use the pronouns *tu* and *vós,* that's why I have chosen not to present them and their conjugations in my lessons. But you can find any verb conjugation in this site - www.conjugacao.com.br/verbo-ir/ 😊

    what's the difference between ir e andar? aren't both to go? then also... how to recognize while listening to someone if he is saying VEM or VEEM(to see) they look like so similar in pronounciation

  • @PlainPortuguese

    @PlainPortuguese

    Жыл бұрын

    Olá! Tudo bem? 'Ir' would be equivalent to 'go'. 'Andar' would be equivalent to 'walk', 'ride' (andar de bicicleta = ride a bike). As for the pronunciation of 'vem' x 'vêm' x 'veem', both 'vem' and 'vêm' have the same pronunciation. 'Ele vem de carro' (He comes by car). 'Eles vêm de carro' (They come by car). Now, the vowel sound in 'veem' is a bit longer than the vowel sound in 'vem' and 'vêm', maybe too subtle for non-native speakers. 'Eles sempre vêm de carro' (They always come by car). 'Eles sempre veem seus amigos' (They always see their friends). Relying on the context for meaning is my suggestion.

    @@PlainPortuguese I usually learn very quickly and score the highest possible on aptitude tests so this is the first time I’ve ever had problems learning. After studying for 8 years I still haven’t had a conversation yet and have to translate everything into English to understand. Even the words that I know. When I’m translating the first word or two the other words go by and are lost forever. I can’t read either because I don’t know which meanings of words to use when translating. Portuguese words still don’t mean anything to me like English words do until I translate them. People assume that I don’t study or study the wrong things but I study using apps, books, classes, internet groups, italki, Hellotalk, movies and KZread videos and I visit Brazil often and practice every day with my girlfriend who only speaks Portuguese and we’ve been doing that for 5 years now. The longest phrase I’ve been able to understand in Brazil is “Voce faz ela feliz” because I could make out what my girlfriend’s dad was saying and remember all 4 words while I translated them into English in my head. I need to find a way to learn without translating everything. Any ideas? Thanks
