Finally finished the podcast and the ending topic was so incredibly relatable for a different reason because i can't fathom the behavior of that person you described. I was raised with the mentality that if youve invited someone out, then you're "partial"to taking care of them if needed. Its a very old school mentality and not everyone understands, but im close enough to my friends who will tell me "i cant afford to eat here" and instead of shaming them, it's an easy "i got you, i invited you out no worries" because they're also investing their time into hanging out instead of maybe working more hours etc. I find it very odd to ever shame someone for their choices. Like bitch, you paying their bills? If they wanna save money, let them save money! LA people can be so weird man hahahahaha

As exploitative and scary AI (especially AI art) can be, I believe it will never truly 'replace' artists. Any artist worth their salt knows that art comes from a certain place that cannot truly be replaced, because it comes from the human condition. To create is to be human. I've also heard AI art enthusiasts talk about the "democracy" of art - the ability to create something being possible for everyone. That is just disrespectful garbage. The only real "democracy" of art - if you want to go that route - is the vast openness of what can be made possible. just 2 cents :)

I agree with what you're saying. And it's easy to spot most AI art because there's something wrong with certain details especially hands, eye reflections, etc... A true artist pays attention to detail. It is so infuriating lol

Elemental was absolutely brilliant. I loved how relatable it was but still remained original. I mean by original since so many releases currently are live action remakes, or retelling of existing stories & sequels. Highly recommend!

I'm so glad Ed liked Elemental I loved this movie so much, my little brother said it was only his third time in his life he saw me cry, and I instantly thought Daivid and Ed would like it too. I feel like after the bad opening weekend news dropped I was posting comments everywhere to try and help push the true core of the movie being a beautiful immigrants story, and have been following and rooting for it ever since. The producer said between it making what it did world wide, digital releases, and planned merch, it will DEFINITELY make a strong profit.🎉 Aslo My Adventures With Superman Is a GREAT SHOW and probably the best representation of Superman since the 90' animated series. It's just a good time. Highly recommend.

The overall company's sentiments to their writers and actors are scary; and reinforces this idea of profits over people. But with how many companies are doing this.. I always wonder if they realize, if they take alll the money and profits. Who is left to spend for their services? It's mind boggling

Literally all of Cartoon network shows were always animated in Korea. Disney and nickelodeon does the same thing. The only thing American about animation here is the general concept while they have korean animators figure out the rest Korea has been the back bone of American animation for decades unfortunately that's do to the fact that they can pay them low wages to a studio because of how much more the US dollar is worth Korea. The best artist and animators are all from Korea besides Japan. Avatar the last air bender was animated there as well and so was the last to animated spider man films.

Actually, one of the backlash for the Oppenheimer film was the lack of a Chinese physicist by the name of Chien Shiung Wu who was a very crucial part of the development of the atomic bomb. Yet the film did not show or even mention her at all. My guess is bc of the recent US-China relationships and anti-China in mainstream media. Cuz I can't think of a single good reason not to feature her in the film.

I love your film commentary. Please do more, if you can and want~ I watched Barbie and I’m going to watch Oppenheimer soon. 32:49 I’m not an actor or a writer but the strikes make me anxious. These companies are inhumane. The amount of my money they make is insane and this is where we are. They are taking the absolute piss and technology is making everything worse. Their greed knows no bounds and it could just as easily be any other industry. 36:48 It’s honestly disrespectful. This is unchecked greed. 38:00 Capitalism, innit. It takes and takes. They don’t give one ounce of a shit and if you break and stop protesting, that’ll be your new reality. The next generation will forget.

I actually thought it was really respectful towards Japanese people to not show a bunch of footage or reenactments of the bombings and aftermath in Oppenheimer. I'll be honest, I didn't really know much about the subject matter going into it so I didn't feel like I got as much out of the film as I could have, but the way they handled that part of the film actually felt purposeful and impactful to me. You didn't see horror-porn of innocent people yourself but you saw the doctors and scientists watch the footage and you see the moments of horror wash over them as they realize what they brought into the world and unleashed on those people. Also, Ben Shapiro watching Barbie and getting "I don't like how this makes me feel as a man so no one should watch it" is literally missing the entire point of seeing the movie lol

It's sad that writers tend to get undervalued even in entertainment. Of course it makes sense that actors make a ton because they bring in bucks, but bad writing has the power to ruin a movie and an actor's career. We all know a movie with a great cast but shit writing, it can only save the show or movie so much in some cases. A lot of shows that go downhill is cuz writers quit and get replaced. Great podcast!

Part of me believes maybe we will as artist and creators get our due because a.i itself isn't that good yet. HOWEVER, I do see it becoming an issue again for good or worse it's going to change the market forever. It may actually push people to buy more original art work and creations from real people the artist market might actually go up after companies switch over. No more starving artist? Or is my career jeopardy before it even starts?

See, the thing for Squid Game is a bit different. Squid Game was soooo big that it probably did bring in new subscribers. However, for the rest of the shows that are streamed, you have to realize views do not earn these streamers money. Subscriptions earn them money. I guess you could argue that views help perhaps retain subscriptions, but they don't bring in new revenue.
