Somewhere between middle and early high school, I stopped going to church and stopped believing. Years later, my cousin invited me to church (it was my childhood church) for Easter. A youth pastor asked why we think there are so many atheists and people who have stopped believing. People gave some answers and I kinda agreed with their answers- but then the pastor said that one of the biggest reasons is because of Christians. It's people who claim this title and then act in a way that is completely different from what they are supposed to represent. It was the realest answer I had ever heard from anyone. And it came from someone who is in a leadership role of the church! I wish there were more people like this.

Was at a car show last Fri, and some crazy religious guy mad dogged my dad and I when we asked nicely not to put his pamphlets in our cars. He took serious offense at that when we asked nicely. Then told us that he had 15 friends. Last I checked, you weren't supposed to threaten other children of God. He even wrote a letter to my neighbor writing judgment on how my neighbor was a bad parent. Religious people need to take a step back and rethink what their religion is meant for.

Talking about people in position of power. During my sophomore year in high school we had JROTC teacher who was dating a student. She was 17 and he was in his late 40s, early 50s. Comes to find out, dude wife was battling cancer while he was banging her. The only reason why we found out was because one of his student locked their knee while at attention during practice after school for a competition and fainted. So his classmates ran to the room to get the teacher and the room was lock. They started banging on the door and they both came out of the classroom. Dude came out with a first aid kit. 😂. Years down the road, while volunteering for the veteran’s day parade, I saw him with the same student. Crazy shit man.

I shit you not something similar happened Saturday when moving my brother and sister in law into their new apartment, at the end of the move we decided to throw away his love seat in the dumpster and when we arrived the gate was wide open (the signs were in front of the gate, so we couldn't see them) and as we take the love seat out of the uhaul a dude in an SUV immediately stops the car and jumps out with his phone recording YELLING at us!! With his phone out he was like "HEY! DID YOU NOT READ THE SIGNS YOU CANT DUMP THAT STUFF HERE, I AM SICK AND FUCKING TIRED OF PEOPLE DOING THIS, IT KEEPS HAPPENING!" And as my brother is trying to explain he just moved in and the signs couldn't be seen he just kept talking over my brother and saying "NO ITS OKAY KEEP DOING IT I'M RECORDING, IDC WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY BLAH BLAH BLAH IM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS HAPPENING!" What's crazy is my sister in law is the NICEST person ever, she would never try to break a rule, why couldn't he just talk to us like a normal human being? Why instigate and raise it to a 10/10 right off the bat in your first interaction with us? If he had just told us in a normal way I know for a fact they would have *profusely* apologized and made sure it never happened again. Something like that has never happened to us so it was such a bizarre moment.

Ive been jaded and had resentment towards Christians and the ways we dont live out our faith as well. Underlying it was a lot of projection of hurt from my part as well. In countless ways I have failed to trust in God and serve the poor, ostracized and downtrodden. Yet I still would encourage yall not to focus only on our shortcomings but to refocus on Gods goodness. We cannot do what Jesus calls us to do on our own strength and faith. We ask God to give that to us. It’s not too late to turn back to God in rekindling that relationship. We as people suck on our own but with God we can love one another and start forgiving each other of our flaws because God has forgiven us first through Christ

Hey David, I don’t mean to be annoying my man. But, I was really wondering how your wife Mariel got into art, what sparked her interest in pursuing animation.. and what ultimately made her decide to take on art and animation full-time? When she was developing her style or just plain ol practicing, what things did she study to prevent herself from developing bad habits? I forget what job she had before but you guys had mentioned in a podcast a few weeks back that she worked in Japan. Also, I’d like to say thank you after so many years for remaining true to yourself. The fact that you and your wife both are doing something you both love on your own is fucking inspiring man. I hope to take that leap soon. I’d love to send you my art for both you and Mariel to check out sometime? Anyhow- I work overnight at this damn factory job. Working 50+ hours a week plus overtime. I always look forward to Sundays where I get to listen to your podcasts as well as your other podcast with Tim on Dudes behind the Foods and I tune into Send Foods and When Foodie Calls. Again. Thank you being a big part of my life, I’ve been watching you since I was a kid. I want to say I was 11 or 12yo? I’m 25 now. I hope I can shake your hand and even train with you one day. I train out of Malaipet Sasipara gym and recently got to learn from Lerdsila and Master Cha. Please stay safe, remain healthy, and I hope you and your loved ones endless happiness, peace, and continuous success 🙏

I like you two and your running commentary on many social issues. Very sorry to hear about Ed's grade school years and the endless bullying he endured. I know it isn't new but it still sucks. I wish I had half his courage to stand up for myself; sometimes getting physical is the only way to show bullies you WILL stand up for yourself. Also, David ilaughed and found myself nodding wholeheartedly to your recount of the racist neighbor. "HUWHYYY??" Lmao You were about to THROW HANDSSS 😂 Tysm guys for the great video! Oh & thx goodness u didn't buy property. When ur moving again, pls consider moving out east. One of my high school teachers is one of those guys that married a girl that was in my class. I think they started secretly dating during that time because one day I was helping him take pictures of a class event with his camera and I ended up looking through the pictures on his camera and noticed pictures of the girl at I'm guessing his house in a kitchen having breakfast. That shit really caught me off guard. It's been like 20 years now and they're married with a few kids. Also he was like in his 40s and me and the girl were juniors at the high school.

Speaking of conversion camps, we watched a video in my Bible class where they interviewed a pastor who was in charge of one. He said himself that conversion camps don't work because people would still leave gay, and he said that he also struggled with those feelings when he was younger Also, I don't know if you would or Ed would ever do a book review, but I found this great book by an Australian Bible scholar called "Jesus vs. Evangelicals" which basically covers the same topic, as well as stuff like divorce and politics

As a Christian. Bullying is not the way to help people to repent. Bullying is a sin in of itself. Do not confuse bullying with judging, we are ABSOLUTELY supposed to judge (only use the scriptures to judge). Yes I'm anti lgbtq but bullying them is not going to help them repent. The Bible says to love your enemies.

The passage Ed quotes is very ironic and reveals his hate for Christianity due to his past trauma. The irony is not that he "schooled" the Christians but his understanding of the bible is not as good as he thinks it is. The scripture he mentions is in the context of the final judgment where Christ separates sheep from the goats. When Christ answers the question "Lord when did we see you hungry...etc", he answers "...as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me".This is not specifically referring to giving hospitality to the poor (which is good work) but how people responded to the ones that brought forth the gospel of Christ. This is because Jesus refers to those who are his brothers and sisters, which refers to those who are in Christ (which are Christians). Another passage that backs this is from Matthew 12:48-50 "My true brother and sister and mother are those who do what my Father in heaven wants.”. The way Ed responded to these Christians is actually found in the same passage Ed gives as Christ mentions the goats which responded to the gospel in hostility. I hope Ed comes back home to Christ.

As a Muslim, I can offer my perspective on the general view. We see that most other religions don't take their faith seriously. Christians don't follow dietary laws, don't follow marital laws, Jews define themselves as a race more than a faith, Hindu's accept mythology more than theology of their beliefs, Buddhists take on a zero sum game and relate it all to luck and karma. Islam is based on logic, rules, simplicity, and a belief in one God. It's easy and when you see the truth, it is hard to deny it. And yes, i know much of the Quran by heart. All Muslims know at least some of it. It's impossible not to see truth and accept it.
