    Great video, questions. Will it work if I connect those cameras directly to NVR? What's the point of Switch > Router I think to get internet right only. What's the difference? Where is the Uplink of that router to get internet?

  • @ENSSecurity

    @ENSSecurity

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your questions, if you connect cameras directly to the NVR they will work. The POE switch has a couple of uses, if the NVR can handle 32 cameras, many times the actual direct connections on the NVR can be 16. The POE switch adds the additional direct lines to get more cameras connected to the NVR. Connecting to the internet requires connecting the NVR to the Internet Provider. Hope this helps answer your questions. Let us know how we can assist.

    Video is very good and explained the process step by step. But you didn’t explain why this method of cable configuration i.e. Cameras to Poe Switch then PoE Switch to Router and Router to NVR is more advantageous over the other method of Connecting Cameras to NVR PoE ports then NVR to a Switch or Router. And in which situations you would use this configuration than the other way. What are the pros and cons of both wiring configurations. Please explain. Thanks.

    Nice, basic video. You might want to mention DHCP range. Randomly picking IP addresses that are also in the router's DHCP table range is a recipe for disaster. I'm not saying that you need to explain all that in the video, but mention it so that installer can investigate and educate themselves further. Otherwise, there is a very good change that few days/weeks after installation they'll be getting phone calls about some cameras not working.

    Hi, I'm planning to leave the switch in my roof and the NVR in the house. I will also connect the NVR to a UPS to provide a back up if someone would tamper with the main power. How should I connect it all to have the switch connect to the UPS as well? I reckon the switch must be directly connected to the UPS?

  • @ENSSecurity

    @ENSSecurity

    5 жыл бұрын

    Everything that you would like to have it ON in case the main power goes off needs to be connected to the UPS. if you are able to connect the NVR and other devices to the UPS simply use a Power Strip to connect more than one device to the UPS. if you cannot do that then you must get separate UPS to power the other devices that are not in range.

    If you dont have a Router. then you need to create your own ghost network. set the ip address to the NVR static for example IP:192.168.1.10 SUB:255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1.. then connect a laptop to the PoE switch and use the software that Dahua uses to find the ip cameras on the network and set each camera with the same network setting except the IP. for example first IP camera 192.168.1.11 the second 192.168.1.12 with the same SUB and gateway and then you should be able to add them onto the NVR. hope this helps.

  • @ENSSecurity

    Yes that can be possible, but the Computer needs to be 24/7 ON in order to Record. Also make sure that your IP cameras Have a CMS Software. I really dont know what type of cameras you have at the moment but if they are Our Brand you can go to our website and download the NVMS1000 for windows or NVMS1200 for MAC under Support. Note that the HDD on the computer needs to have a large space for the IP video recording and also that the CMS does not work exactly like a regular NVR.

    Excellent video....very well explained. However, I have a two questions I am hoping you can assist with. Q1... The configuration software that you use to check the settings of the network, and also add the cameras. Is this standard software that comes with the NVR or is it an additional purchase. And in addition to this, if the software is part of the NVR, where are you viewing this to enable you to adjust the settings. Is it via a HDMI cable to a monitor or to a PC screen. Q2... If one of these cameras was say a very high end IP PTZ camera whereby it needs additional power, say 12 or 24v, how do you connect this if the camera is say 15 to 20 mts from the camera to the POE switch. I'm sure the Adaptor does not have a cable that long. Is it possible to add a video on how this would be setup. I am thinking of getting a system using 1 or 2 IP PTZ cameras (high end) and want to ensure I get the right POE and NVR. I wouod also like it to work with a Apple environment NOT WINDOWS. Any assistance would be helpful...I find your videos very informative...Keep up the great work.

  • @ENSSecurity

    @ENSSecurity

    6 жыл бұрын

    Q1 A1.. That is part of the NVR interface and there is no additional Purchase. It comes standard on all our NVRS. Q2 A2. Most cases IP PTZ cameras Installers Run a Pair of 18 Gage wire to provide power. If the PTZ needs 24V AC you can run 24V AC on 18 Gage cable easily 800Ft. If you are running 12V DC you can easily run 200Ft. The connections as for the network stays the same. IP Cameras to PoE switch, PoE switch to the Router and NVR to the Router.. The NVR has a software client for PC and MAC OSX. Mobile remote is fully supported with Apple and Android devices. "Super Live Plus" that's the app name. Note: If you buy a NVR system and have IP cameras from different manufactures this features might not apply. It is recommended to have the NVR and IP cameras from the same manufacture or brand to work best. Thank you i hope you find this useful.

For example if you have 10 IP cameras at the maximum of 10Mbps that equals to 100MBPS and if you have more cameras connected to the PoE switch then the network will not work properly on the PoE Switch. If you are going to connect a large number of IP cameras i recommend you the Gigabit Switch.

    Hello, Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, this is 40 ip camera system. Can I go to a non-poe gigabit switch at the NVR and branch out to 5 seperate 8 channel 10/100 PoE switches each having 8 cameras? (or do the PoE switches also have to be 10/1000 switches?)

    Yes you can do that. You can connect the NVR to the Gigabit Switch and connect all you PoE 8 Channel Switches to the Gigabit switch as well.

    Hello, the channel maximum is the total IP cameras the unit can accept. If the NVR is a 32 channel but only has 16 ports on the back of the unit, you can use an external PoE to add the remaining cameras.

    You will need to use the appropriate IP configuration tool. Scan for the cameras with the tool, then assign IP addresses that follow the general network scheme. The tool will depend on the product line.

    You dont need to have an NVR to Watch the IP cameras remotely from a Computer. Some IP cameras have a software that would allow you to make your PC to record as an NVR but the PC needs to be on 24/7 just like an NVR would be. Also, the software allows you to see all IP cameras on the screen as if you had an NVR.

    If you have 2 or 3 PoE switch you can connect them this way. From the Router connect a CAT5/6 To the first PoE switch on the UPLINK port, then plug one CAT5/6 on any PoE port in the PoE Switch and connect it to the 2nd PoE Switch on the UPLINK Port. This way you can connect as many cameras as the PoE switch is capable of using just one cable run to the Router. Note. You can also connect the NVR into the PoE Switch, Just make sure you connect the LAN port of the NVR to any available port on the PoE Switch.

    Is it possible to connect the external switch to one of the NVR Internal Switch Ethernet ports (usually used for cameras) so that the cameras connected to the External Switch are assigned ip addresses from the nvr internal switch, so the cameras on the external switch appear to be on the internal switch’s network?

  • @ENSSecurity

    @ENSSecurity

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, in order to use all the channels that NVR's or DVR's offer you need to use an external switch to add more cameras. Many NVR's and DVR's do not have all the ports needed in the back. For example, an NVR that can handle 32 Cameras may only have 16 ports available, you would need an external switch to add the additional 16 cameras. However if a recorder is not able to handle more than 16 channels, adding a switch to add over that capacity will not work. The key is, how many channels can your recorder handle.

    if I have a 16 channel NVR with 16 IP cameras can I group them either by 2X 8 port POE switch or 4 x 4 Port POE switch as long as the uplinks of each POE Switch and the LAN of the NVR is connected to the same router? Secondly could I add another router from one of my main router ethernet ports to handle my IP Cameras and NVR so I don't have too much overload on my main router between the IP CCTV system and other computers and tablets on the same network! Basically I want my IP CCTV system to have a dedicated network from my home computer/tablet network! PS: In my current home I have a 8CH NVR with 8 IP Cameras which are connected via the POE ports of the NVR, However I might be purchasing a bigger home which requires double the cameras that I currently have now and the structure seems to have more obstacles than my current home to have all 16 ethernet cables to meet at the same point!

    The answer to both of your questions is Yes you can. You might need to add the IP cameras manually because they are not connected directly to the PoE Ports on the NVR If they are EasternCCTV Titanium Series IP cameras and you have a titanium NVR just follow the steps on this video. If they are not EasternCCTV then you might need to refer to their manual or call their Tech support =)

    would I be correct to say that direct connection to the POE Ports of the NVR the IP cameras are automatically assigned IP addresses by the ports that each is connected to?

  • @ENSSecurity

    @ENSSecurity

    Yes. The NVR would automatically assign and configure the IP camera. In order to do so the NVR and the IP camera has to be the same brand and of course they need to support Plug & Play Feature.

    PoE switches they act just like any other network Switch. you can have many PoE switches connected in like a chain mode. if your PoE have an UpLink port then connect that to any available port on the other switches. As long as you have the IP cameras connected to a PoE port then you can connect the Switches any way you want as long as you don't exceed the maximum bandwidth of the Switch.

    if you connect the NVR LAN port to the External PoE Switch and the switch to the router then it will work. if you connect the POE switch to one of the POE ports on the NVR, there might be a chance that it might not work. also, the NVR has a limit to the number of IP cameras that you can add.

    Can you describe to me more about the "TP Link to a plug" device? Most importantly, though, avoid looping a PoE switch directly into the onboard PoE. Powerline and wireless adapters will vary depending on bandwidth capabilities of the device and environment and any special network restrictions the device may use. Hopefully this helps! Let us know about the "TP Link to a plug" you're referring to in your post.

    You can also connect the NVR LAN port into any available port on the PoE switch. It is recommended for the PoE Switch to have an UPLINK port so it can be connected to the Router. If the PoE switch does not have an UPLINK port then simply connect one of the PoE ports to the router. So basically everything would be connected to the PoE Ports on the switch. NVR, IP Cameras and Router.

Is it the same process I need to follow to get it to work, it works on my nvr but once I unplug the LAN cable it freezes and says not available. • @ENSSecurity

    The problem is likely either that: 1) power is not being given to the camera, so when you unplug it from a PoE switch you lose power to the camera. 2) you may be programming the cameras "wired" connection rather than it's 'wireless" NIC setting. or 3) Wireless signal at the mounting location isn't enough
